My name is Dr. Beth Liston and I am running for the Ohio House of Representatives. I am a doctor, a mother and a professor. My job is to help people and that is what I plan to do.
I grew up in this area and have lived in the district for over 30 years. I love the people of my community and my state. I am raising my family here and my children attend our public schools. I have spent my career caring for children and adults who are ill.
However, I know that a system that keeps people healthy is not just about treating people who are sick. We must fight for healthcare, public education, strong communities and high paying jobs for all.
I am an expert in healthcare and health policy and having been working as a physician for over a decade. I have a PhD for my work in cancer research. I am a nationally recognized expert in teaching students clinical reasoning and interprofessional collaboration. I study facts and data, a quality we absolutely need in our government right now.
As a doctor, I am trained to analyze complex information to make tough decisions in order to make peoples' lives better. Sometimes this means making a difficult diagnosis, or prescribing a medication. Sometimes this means teaching people about their disease, or having a really tough conversation about where things are going. Right now this means running for the Ohio House of Representatives so I can bring this training and these skills to our statehouse.
