Within minutes of John Boehner's shocking announcement that he will retire from Congress in October, attention turned immediately to who will replace him as Speaker of the House and the domino effect of lawmakers jockeying for leadership positions in the GOP conference. Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23), who announced his intention to seek the Speakership on Monday, is the early favorite to take the reigns of Congress following Boehner's departure.

However he is facing a challenge from the right in Congressman Dan Webster (FL-10) who is running as a "principled conservative" despite registering just half a point more conservative than McCarthy on the Crowdpac spectrum.
