With the Pope's upcoming visit to the United States, there has been much speculation as to what he will decide to push politically. But where exactly is the Catholic church ideologically? To answer this question, we decided to take a look at what the political contributions of religious groups have to say about their ideologies. Do different religions lean toward a certain political preference?
We analyzed political contributions from employees of all the major religious groups to find out where religions land on the liberal - conservative scale. Here is the breakdown of their Crowdpac scores:
Major religions are clearly clustered on both sides of the spectrum — with religions like Buddhism and the Christian and Missionary Alliance sitting on the furthest extremes of the ideological scale, respectively.
