The two-term governor of Louisiana announced his presidential campaign today.
The first Indian-American ever to be elected governor, Jindal rose to fame as an advisor to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in 2001. He was elected to Congress in 2005 and served two terms before launching a successful campaign for Governor of Louisiana in 2007.
While Jindal's strong Catholic faith informs many of his policy stances on social issues, he is also known for reforms he championed in Louisiana on issues such as education and healthcare.
