Each election cycle, there's a lot of talk about the crisis of student debt in America - a figure the Federal Reserve has estimated to be between $708 billion and $1.3 trillion.

But while politicians tend to bring up the student loan crisis when they are courting the coveted youth vote - which ones truly prioritize the issue beyond election years? We performed a text analysis of Congressional floor records and digital media properties for members of congress to find out.

Our analysis showed Senate Democrats Dick Durbin (D - IL), Jack Reed (D - RI), Elizabeth Warren (D - MA), Harry Reid (D - NV), Sherrod Brown (D - OH), and Jeff Merkley (D - OR) leading the charge on the issue. Representatives Joe Courtney (CT - 2), Sheila Jackson Lee (TX - 18), and Ruben Hinojosa (TX - 15) were the lone members of the House to make the list while Senator Lamar Alexander (R - TN) was the only Republican.
