Did you know that women’s representation in Tennessee state government is the second lowest in the nation at 14.4%? Ten percent of the Tennessee House of Representatives are women.

Research indicates that as women’s political representation increases, policy shifts towards prioritizing families, women, and marginalized communities. This is crucial considering that these communities continue to disproportionately feel the health and economic harms of the coronavirus pandemic.

We've got to get more self-identified women involved, but how?

We have a plan. We’re hosting We Rise: Women’s Day on the Hill 2023 on March 1, 2023, at the Scarritt Bennett Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Our goal is to build a coalition of Tennessean women that want to civically engage and provide an environment to empower each woman to find her place within the political structure, whether that’s through legislative advocacy, volunteerism, voter registration, community support, or as a candidate.

However, we need sponsors and donations to make this vision a reality. Donations will fund the direct costs of the event, such as: venue rental, breakfast, lunch, speaker fees, and educational materials for 200 attendees.

If you can contribute to our cause, we are providing promotional opportunities along with tickets to our fundraiser gala on February 28th, Remember the Ladies, hosted at the LeQuire Gallery -- the studio of renowned sculptor, Alan LeQuire, who designed and built the women’s suffrage monuments throughout the state. For more benefits, please look at our website.

We have four sponsorship levels based on prominent Tennessean suffragists:

  • Frankie Pierce Sponsorship - $5,000
    • Fund transportation to and from the state capitol for all attendees
  • Anne Dallas Dudley Sponsorship - $2,500
    • Fund group childcare for all attendees
  • Elizabeth Avery Meriwether Sponsorship - $1,000
    • Fund educational materials
  • Febb Burn Sponsorship - $500
    • Fund direct costs for 5 attendees

Engaging women is imperative to a more equitable Tennessee. We hope that you'll join us in our mission and donate to our campaign.
