Kathryn Bennett is running for the two-year at-large Grand Junction City Council seat that is currently held by Rick Taggart.

What's your vision of the future for Grand Junction? A connected city that promotes economic development and growth while maintaining small-town values?

We probably share that vision. As a military brat, I've seen my share of towns, and I've chosen Grand Junction as my home because I believe that it is a great place that can only continue to improve.

The question you have to ask yourself: Are you being heard? Mesa County residents have told their government that they want more opportunities to participate in local government. I'm the ear that you can bend.

I'm a trained communicator and public health educator, so I know a thing or two about getting things done in a collaborative environment. Trust me when I tell you that your opinion matters, and I want to hear it.

Here's what you can expect from me as a City Councilor:

1. Transparency in government - minimizing those closed-door sessions and keeping you informed

2. Dedication to reaching younger demographics and providing a fresh, Millennial face to the rest of the state

3. Focus on improved job growth by keeping our young people here in the Valley instead of shipping them off to the Front Range

It's time for a younger, fresher, future-forward approach to our city's government. Invest in our community's tomorrow by voting for me today.
