Why you should support this campaign

I am collecting pledges via CrowdPAC to prove that motivated citizens can provide all of the resources required to allow candidates to run a campaign.

We share the same goals: safety in our homes and neighborhoods, sound education for our children, financial stability, personal liberty. We disagree about how to get there, but we have things to learn from each other. We do our best when we engage each other with nuance, not when we retreat into our echo chambers to stroke our egos and stoke our fears. I want to craft policy that gives constituents of all backgrounds and means in our district the opportunity to make the most out of their potential.

  • Healthcare - Protect pre-existing condition coverage. Increase transparency in pricing. Provide support to individual insurance markets to increase entrepreneurship. Protect Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Human Rights - Support Equal Work for Equal Pay. Expand family leave. Support the Equality Act. Protect Social Security.
  • Economy - Simplify the tax code. Tax breaks for new small business. Raise minimum wage and index to inflation. Invest in infrastructure to create jobs and prepare for growth.

I grew up in the 1980s in a working-class neighborhood in south DeKalb. After attending Princeton University and working around the country as a technology consultant, I founded a technology startup with my business partner and steadily grew it to a successful business serving over 100,000 teams in over 100 countries. Here at home, I serve on the board of two non-profits, including one that mentors and serves immigrant families living on the Buford Highway corridor, and am an active volunteer at my home church, Renovation Church.

A combination of principled, values-based approaches to problems learned from my upbringing and reinforced by my Christian faith, and systematic and critical thinking taught to me in my career, has led me to spend a lot of time talking with people about how to make our district and our country better. I will put principle over partisanship and be no one’s candidate but yours.

“Corregan is the kind of person you want in office because he's both brilliant and humble -- strong in his convictions yet willing to listen thoughtfully and respectfully to all sides. For years, I have watched him engage in conversations about controversial subjects with people of very different backgrounds. He is a peacemaker and a bridge builder. And he's a genuinely caring individual. If we had more people like him in positions of power and influence, our political landscape would be much more sane.”

  • Jen Korn endorsed

“I support Corregan Brown because he's a good dude that I have known for years & I believe in him.”

  • Runako Godfrey endorsed

“Let's get some sanity back into the system. Corregan is unbought, evenhanded, and insightful. He listens to all input and draws fair conclusions.”

Time out. . . for now

A new candidate has entered this race:
(article from Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

He has a significant cash advantage, deep connections, and endorsements from Hank Johnson (GA-4) and the venerable John Lewis (GA-5). As much as we all enjoy a David and Goliath story, I'm not going to waste your precious stones on a race against two establishment Democrats in a Republican-leaning district.

My exploration will stop here and not proceed to full candidacy. As such, I won't collect any of your pledge dollars, and all funds should be released.

I'm so honored and inspired by your faith in me, and more importantly by your faith that our democracy still works and still has room for people from outside the establishment like me. This is the beginning of the story, not the end. I'm going to share my learnings soon on my blog at brokenbeatnik.com and we will continue to engage and fight for the community we know we can become. As the Brits say, "Watch this space."

Thank you.

Happy New Year!

I can't say thank you enough to you for your generosity and your turnout! I'm honored and humbled that you have faith in my ability to run this race well, and thanks to you, I'll have the necessary resources as well. We've hit our goal of $10,000 required to launch in just 7 days after publishing! We're still working on our goal of $25,000 to be able to hire the management team we'll need to run a first-rate campaign.

We're making a final decision in the next two weeks, and we will keep everyone posted. In the meantime, keep telling your friends and anyone else who may be interested!

You are the movement, and with your help, I can be a messenger.
