Please support our work to keep Alamedans in their homes.
The city of Alameda does not have strong renter protections – rent control and just-cause eviction – as do neighboring cities Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, and San Francisco. Members of our community can be evicted at any time for any reason regardless of their track record as tenants. Rents continue to increase well beyond the rate of inflation. Alameda Renters Coalition (ARC) provides tenants with support and resources and lobbies for urgently needed changes in city law.
ARC Goals for Rent Control in the City of Alameda
- Just-cause eviction legislation
- A real cap on rent increases
- Enforcement of existing rental law
- Fair relocation fees based on market rates
- A city rental database
ARC is a volunteer-driven organization with a demonstrated commitment to protecting the right of our neighbors to stay in safe and affordable housing. We are grateful for financial and volunteer contributions from anyone who understands that keeping Alamedans in their homes creates a safer, more stable community for all of us.
