Victoria Sterling is seeking a seat on the Jefferson City Public School Board. Sterling worked in higher education for five years and currently works as an abuse and neglect investigator for Missouri Department of Mental Health.

If elected, Sterling promises to:

  • Promote transparency and accountability by encouraging live-streaming school board meetings.
  • Create a strong educational foundation upon which Jefferson City can build both a second high school and a second East side elementary school.
  • Partner with parents and teachers to address the issues that matter the most to them.
  • Focus on improving education for special needs student, low-income students, and ESL student.
  • Aim for a vast improvement in JCPS' accreditation scores, which families and companies look at when deciding where to move.

Sterling and her fiance, J. Mat Kendrick, plan to adopt a child who will attend JCPS.

Sterling believes that her experience with public policy and background as an investigator makes her especially qualified for the position.

“My job is to be a fact-finder. When something goes wrong, I talk to people involved and get supporting documents to put together a fact-based narrative as to what happened. This allows me to give systemic considerations to agencies and give suggestions for how to prevent issues from arising in the future,” Sterling said.

When you donate, you'll receive a thank you email from Victoria!

“It is important to develop data-driven education policy, rather than promoting practices that haven't proved effective. It is unsettling to ask ourselves if we might be wrong in our thinking, and to reach out to others to learn from their experiences. But it is something we owe to our children. I know Victoria from my days as a congressional candidate--she worked in my campaign, and I put her in charge of organizing one of the counties--and I am sure she will come to the school board with the best interests of your children informing everything she does. And I know she is smart, hard working, and effective. I would love to have her on the school board in Illinois where I live and work; you will do well to vote her into office so she can work for you. I endorse this sharp, smart person with great enthusiasm.”

She cares about quality education, and she will be a passionate voice for staff, faculty, and students alike.”

First goal accomplished!

I just got the good news that my campaign has reach its first fundraising goal of $2,000! I want to extend a warm thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. Through your generosity and your caring for public education, you are helping get the word out about a candidate who truly puts students and teachers first.

That being said, there is still so much to do...so, if you can, please contribute more. The more money I raise, the more opportunities I have to reach out to voters through newspapers, social media, yard signs, and mailers.

Please, spread the word to your friends and family about this campaign and ask them to donate. If we learned anything from Betsy DeVos, it's that money talks--make your money say that you want strong, hard-working people serving public schools!

Do you have $33?

I am amazed by the outpouring of support I've received over the past several days...thank you, one and all!

The total donations are currently at $1,635. To reach the goal of $2K by V-Day, I need to raise a mere $33.18 per day. So, if you or someone you know can chip in today, that will be a huge help.

The sooner we hit this goal, the sooner I can purchase yard signs and send out mailers, and the sooner people will know to vote for me. In a time of major changes at every level of government, let's create a positive change in Jefferson City's public schools.

$2K by Valentine's Day?

The total contributions are up to $1,230, which is 61.5% of the way to the goal of $2000. Thank you so much to everyone who has given so far!

Your money is going to go toward spreading the word about a candidate who cares about kids. With all the issues facing our schools (no space, bullying, low test scores), I want to make sure that parents and voters know for certain what the school board is doing to serve students.

Let's try to get this number up to $2K by February 14th...just another $770 to raise in the next 18 days. A mere $43 a day.

Please, share this campaign with your friends. And while you're here, leave an endorsement of me to show why you supported me. Your dollars and your words are greatly appreciated!

Day 1...so many contributions!

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far. We currently have $425, which is 21% of the $2,000 goal. I'd love to see this goal met by the end of the week, which would mean raising $262.50 a day. There are two ways to make this happen:

1. Share this with your friends and family.

2. Donate a second time. The maximum donation without having to report your info is $100...can you give extra to make your total $100?

Your support puts me closer to helping the kids in Jefferson City...let's do this!
