Why you should support this campaign

Thank you to everyone - because of your support we brought 9 incredible resistance groups to meet with members and the room was packed. You can watch the event here: https://www.facebook.com/TYTpolitics/videos/1822943651286675/

Honestly, we have Idaho looping with #ResistTrumpTuesdays, Georgia with Sister District, Wyoming with People for Bernie, California with the Womens March, New Jersey with Rise Stronger, Indiana with Run for Something, California with #BlackLivesMatter, North Dakota wants to host the next Arena Summit.....

I cannot explain how amazing it was to see these groups connect. And we will keep going.

I lost. I came in 3rd -I got 193.5 of the vote count - Congresswoman Grace Meng 216.5 came in second and Maria Elena Durazo with 228.5.

I then went into the 3rd round with the men - and dropped out to endorse Michael Blake who became the third Vice Chair. You can watch the whole thing here: https://www.democrats.org/page/dnc-future-forum-livestream

We also had a tech round table, with 50 attendees - and I have to say DNC members left saying it was one of the best events they have been to with clear follow up and substantive conversation. Huge thanks to everyone who put it together.

It really was an amazing experience and we did a lot. Also let's be clear - this is just the beginning. I am committed to helping the Democratic party win, and meet with these organizations and elevate technology.... so - I am going to Colombia for a week and then when I get back we are getting started. I have already had 5 states ask me to help them organize similar pannels and round tables for the members in state - so yes some $$$ to help get folks there will be key....

Stay tuned for updates on how you can all help and how we win, and how we keep going and fighting

with love for everything

Its been insane, and I love you

It's 2am - and tomorrow is the vote. We did our best, and we may win. We whipped votes, we went from no chance, to being one of the top 3 contenders. We are challenging everyone's idea of what a Vice Chair should do, we are pushing people to talk about how they can embrace the movements and these new frontiers. We are talking about innovation and technology and how we can start to actually empower millennials. We brought in tech we brought in the movement and we did it today.

So I just want to say thank you. Because of you, we had buttons, we had t-shirts, we sent mail, we got volunteers, we bought some drinks for members ;), and most importantly we brought in the leaders of the new frontier - we flew in some incredible organizers to talk to these members today. The event was amazing! Members are still talking about it and it's 2am! If you missed it you can watch it here- live link.

We have such wonderful volunteers and so many supporters, you are all part of this campaign.

Its late and I need to sleep - more to come, but I have to say thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Whatever happens tomorrow, I am so proud I ran, and I so grateful for you.

Thank you

Bringing the Movements to Atlanta to meet with Party Chairs

New Update - we are flying folks to Atlanta to meet with the State Party Chairs and have a real conversation about how we can all work together - so helping with that funding would be HUGE!

As discussed campaigns can be expensive, but I am making sure to keep up with all costs and let you know what we are spending and on what. We got more tshirts and buttons, since apparently they are in high demand (which is both awesome and hillarious) - and we decided we needed to bring some of these Movements that have surfaced since Trump to Atlanta for the winter meetings to meet with the state party chairs - to succeed we all need to get together and actually talk to each other.

so we are asking to raise an additional 5k to get folks to Atlanta for Feb 23/24.

Thank you for all your support so far, if you can help us with this endeavor we would sincerely appreciate it - or share it and see who can help. We are almost done!

Heading into Baltimore and Day 1 Plans

Hi Everyone,

First off thank you so much to those of you who donated, this is huge and helps get build our momentum in Atlanta and Baltimore (yes we needed more buttons and signs), also these members have to get woo'ed at events.... yes that's real.

After Detroit we signed up every member who was there as a supporter or "very close" - it was pretty fantastic. They liked the straight talk and the fact that I had an actual plan for Day 1 - to build an online platform.

At the same time it's all up in the air, we need members to pick up their phones or at least watch the forums. There should be 58 Members in Baltimore and that is a good thing. We are headed to Baltimore tomorrow - and yes if you can come please please do! 9-4pm Baltimore Convention Center on Saturday.

Email info@lizforvicechair.com for more details.

Meanwhile we are getting a lot of attention on the Day 1 clip - At the forum in Detroit, I was asked what I would do first if elected Vice-Chair. Here is my answer.

At this critical time of our country, we no longer have the luxury to talk in vague generalities about providing more for grassroots and State Parties, about how we need to do better candidate recruitment or increasing our outreach to voters.

We need to offer specific plans about how we will accomplish those things.

The #resistance is happening with, or without the involvement of the Democratic Party. We need to bring the DNC to these movements. The DNC can play a leading role by connecting these movements to each other and to the only party capable of stopping this administration and this Congress. In turn the DNC is strengthened by tapping into the energy and passion of the people. My platform is a specific outline on how we can accomplish these goals. I am offering clear deliverables with the expertise and plan to execute.

In my career, I have worked for Democrats at every level. When I worked for both Obama campaigns, I was inspired by the energy that swept an amazing candidate into the highest office we have. Then I managed Rep. John Delaney's winning race in 2014, where I saw firsthand the struggle for attention and resources that accompany down ballot races. That is why afterwards, I devoted myself to helping local Democrats secure those resources through crowdfunding and online organizing. I know my plan can work because I've seen it work. I know I can make it work inside the DNC because I have done it outside the party already.

The growing support that I have received from DNC Members across the country is amazing and speaks to just how important it is that we open up the DNC and turn it into the online innovation hub for all democrats to take action. Together, we can improve the DNC so that we can fight back against Trump and congressional Republicans.

Next stop, Baltimore!

A massive win! The DNC just created their first online resource page - because of us

I just want to say THANK YOU

I got an email from the DNC - they have created their first online resource page about the elections: https://www.democrats.org/page/dnc-2016-officer-elections . and a medium post about how the races work - https://medium.com/to-the-left/how-dnc-officers-are-elected-183fe269ecbc#.tk1olp5ni

This is because of us - our platform is about being open and transparent. I wrote a medium post about the rules one week ago - because there was no resource, and I just published all the DNC Members names here: https://lizforvicechair.com/take-action/ so you could see who to contact - now the DNC is responding. This is amazing news.

Thank you! We should honor this first step, and keep pushing.

I'm headed to Detroit tomorrow, because of you and your support, we will keep pushing them to open up.

Yes we can.

with love

With the hugest thanks - we hit our goal - let's go

Everyone,

Thank you!!! Because of you we have mail scheduled to go out. We have tshirts being made for Detroit, Baltimore and Atlanta. We have buttons (huge ones with my face on them being printed for the forums). We have a satisfied yet exhausted campaign manager, and a website team that hates me just a leetle beet less.

The rest I am donating to any additional expenses (if we need more rally signs) if not I will give it a local political group who needs the money, and let you know. Probably in NC (since it's our next redistricting chance).

I have been working all night to update this stupid spreadsheet of DNC members (because of course, why would they ever just make a simple google doc where you can get updated members). Now that it's done, I can start mailers, follow up on my one on one calls, and share this list with those who want it so they can tell the members to vote for me.

I have been getting support from Members across the board, with more and more people stepping up to call on my behalf. It feels amazing. What is more amazing, are the emails and notes and tweets I'm getting saying "thank you" and "go for it" and "we need change!". People are so desperate to fix this party, and we can do it.

I'm going to get back to work now, but wanted to send a quick note to say - you gave to a campaign that will fight, and be honest, and try and make all of this just a little bit easier and a lot more open in the future - lets make the DNC the party for the people.

With love and thanks

And yes we increased our goal to include a campaign manager

We received more donations, and folks asked what else we need. Well, we need a campaign manager, we have found that this is essential for every Vice Chair candidate - this is someone who can

  • email all the volunteers
  • manage call time (every member has to be schedule more than twice - that means over 1000 calls in the next 2 weeks)
  • manage liz and travel with her to each location - not easy (like managing a tornado)
  • follow up on messaging - we have to manage the messaging in emails and mailers so we stay consistent and deliver on what we promise
  • run the whip count - this is critical as we need to start running up the votes and see who we can get
  • liz has a full time job, so having someone run the traps with her during those hours and every evening is critical

The amount is $2000. We will take any donations after the 5k goal towards the campaign managers role. If you know of anyone who might be willing to donate, please send them our way. With much love and thanks - Liz and team (tbd)

We just hit our goal! Thank you so much - and progress report

All - I wanted to say thank you so much! I just hit my goal of 100 and will be ordering all the signs and sending out the first wave of mail. You have all been amazing.

On a second note - Houston was amazing, I received a standing ovation and 500 volunteers signed up to help me. I'll be in Detroit next week. I have Georgia and Texas members on board including some Ohio and Illinois. I just found out that Cam Kerry will be calling MA for me!!

If you know anyone in your state or might know DNC members please email me and info@lizforvicechair directly and Irene can set you up with a list and TPs - the number 1 priority is talking to active members.

We will send you talking points and a member list.

There are two more forums - Detroit this weekend and Baltimore the next, I will be going to both.

You can watch the Houston forum here - I start at around 4:52:56 https://www.democrats.org/page/dnc-future-forum-livestream

Finally if anyone would like to come to Baltimore to help volunteer please sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfyEbN14T85C4_rteYJWn5NwUICA1T6Vttypt_swsSO6MpvNA/viewform

I cannot thank you enough. This is such a tough process, but I am so glad I am doing it and fighting. With love to you all.

“I am endorsing Liz for Vice Chair of the DNC because the election of Donald Trump proves two things: 1) Those who ran and run the Democratic party then and now are not capable or willing to get progressive pro-worker candidates elected. 2) Cleary staying the course is not an acceptable option, as over the last 8 years over 1 thousand conservative Republicans were elected at every level of Govt. I am supporting Liz and her peers as they are willing and able to put real progressive pro-worker candidates in office.”

“I have always tried to be an informed voter, participating in local, state, and national elections from the time I've been eligible. My parents, and particularly my mother, have been lifelong democrats. Unfortunately, I lost interest in keeping that allegiance as the party has swung heavily towards Corporatism and other distasteful ideologies. After this last election I've decided it's time to get involved beyond just voting and change this thing from the inside. It doesn't help to vote when I don’t see redeeming qualities in the available candidates. I fully believe this is the time for the Democratic Party to transform, not stick with the same failed tactics. Listening to Liz campaign for DNC Vice Chair has earned her my support. I believe Vice Chair is the perfect spot for Liz to use her unique skill set to back-up the DNC Chair, and Party as a whole. Let’s move forward and include every progressive in the process, not just a select group of insiders with stale strategies.”

“I know she will deliver! She is hard working - not just an idea person, but someone who can execute. Go Liz!”

  • Mary McCall endorsed

“I was at the Houston DNC Future Forum listening to each vice chair candidate speak and Liz Jaff stood out as a voice of level headed reason and practicality. She spoke about realistic obstacles the party faces and with each problem she gave solutions. The DNC needs leaders that are able to come to the table with substantive solutions, Liz Jaff is that leader we need.”

  • Tai J Ragan endorsed

“Liz is articulate and possesses a vision worth supporting.”

  • Walter Mieher endorsed

  • Christina Sass endorsed

  • Beatina Theopold endorsed

  • Andrew Frimpong endorsed

“Of all the candidates I heard speaking at the DNC Forum in Houston, she alone spoke to the empowerment of the people. She alone spoke about the use/integration of current web-tech and crowd-sourcing to aid the party in capturing and reaching out to voters and constituents in a way that hasn't been done before. She alone had actual solutions for increasing transparency and open communication within the party that could be implemented within the year. Her passion and enthusiasm stood out among everyone gathered on the stage that day and it was matched by her knowledge about strengthening the currently weakened party. It was clear to all listening that she was head and shoulders above her peers when it came to knowledge about voter outreach, campaign financing/funding, and voter empowerment. If there was a person to be trusted with spearheading the new direction of the party, she was that person. She inspired me, a person who's never been politically involved, to seek out and join my local democratic party and get involved. Regardless of the outcome of the Vice Chair campaign, I am behind this incredibly vibrant, intelligent, and strong-willed woman. Thanks for running for Vice Chair Liz Jaff!”
