Donald Trump fired the acting Attorney General, Sally Yates, for refusing to enforce his immigration ban.

But, Sally Yates isn't going down that easy.

Do you believe we need more heroes who will stand up for what is right?

Draft Sally to run for Governor of Georgia in 2018. Your card will only be charged if Sally decides to run and take on Trump as a Governor.

Sally is a 27-year career veteran of the Justice Department. She chose to defy Trump rather than defend the indefensible. Yates sent a letter to her prosecutors saying in part...

My responsibility is to ensure that the position of the Department of Justice is not only legally defensible, but is informed by our best view of what the law is after consideration of all the facts. In addition, I am responsible for ensuring that the positions we take in court remain consistent with this institution’s solemn obligation to always seek justice and stand for what is right. At present, I am not convinced that the defense of the Executive Order is consistent with these responsibilities nor am I convinced that the Executive Order is lawful.

Consequently, for as long as I am the Acting Attorney General, the Department of Justice will not present arguments in defense of the Executive Order, unless and until I become convinced that it is appropriate to do so.

Trump fired her hours later for betrayal.

Why Sally Yates Stood Up to Trump

Check out this awesome feature on Sally by Ryan Lizza in the New Yorker!

A snippet:

She was returning to Atlanta for a dinner honoring a camp for children with serious illnesses and disabilities, which her husband has supported for years. On the way to the airport, she received a call from her deputy, Matt Axelrod. “You’re not going to believe this, but I just read online that the President has executed this travel ban,” he said.

It was the first Yates had heard of the order. “I had been sitting in Don McGahn’s office an hour before that,” she said. “He didn’t tell me.” She later learned that lawyers in the Office of Legal Counsel, at the Justice Department, had reviewed the order, and that they had been instructed not to share it with her. A source familiar with the process said that even the most senior Trump aide assigned to Yates’s office didn’t know about the order until he saw the news on CNN.

Yates found the order online and read it on her iPad. At the dinner, she spent much of the evening on her phone at the back of the ballroom.

Sally warned Trump about Michael Flynn

Not that we needed any more reason to support Sally for Governor, but in addition to standing up to the immigration ban, Sally also warned Trump that Michael Flynn was compromised.

From the New York Times

WASHINGTON — Less than a week into the Trump administration, Sally Q. Yates, the acting attorney general, hurried to the White House with an urgent concern. The president’s national security adviser, she said, had lied to the vice president about his Russian contacts and was vulnerable to blackmail by Moscow.

“We wanted to tell the White House as quickly as possible,” Ms. Yates told a Senate Judiciary subcommittee on Monday. “To state the obvious: You don’t want your national security adviser compromised with the Russians.”

Senator Grassley's Statement of Yate's Confirmation

“Today, the Senate confirmed Sally Yates to be the United States Deputy Attorney General. I congratulate her on her confirmation, and I'm looking forward to working with her on the many important issues the Department of Justice is facing. I supported her nomination, both in Committee and today in the full Senate, and I hope that she will show independence as she provides leadership at the Department. As she told us during her hearing, she is aware that her client is, ‘The people of the United States… not the President… not the Congress, it’s the people of the United States.’
