Now more than ever, our political climate is in crisis. Neighbors, communities, and even families are at odds with one another on a variety of issues. The systems at every level are breaking down. We need a fresh perspective, not just business as usual.

As a professional counselor, my job is to facilitate hard conversations and difficult changes thoughtfully; to analyze the big picture and notice patterns that aren’t working; to have an open mind and change narratives toward inclusiveness and teamwork. As a successful business owner, I also realize the importance of addressing our city’s challenges from a collaborative perspective.

We need fresh eyes at the local level – not career politicians, but everyday citizens who will take action to make a difference for their families and communities. I believe I have the experience and education to speak to the issues that matter to the growing and diverse families of Richardson and lead as part of the solution, not part of the problem.

To ensure that Richardson continues to prosper, not just now but for many years to come, we must:

Preserve the Beauty of Our Community

Richardson has a unique and vibrant character, which is one of the primary reasons why families move here. I commit to ensuring balance between new development and maintaining the integrity of our landscape and diverse culture of our beautiful city.

Promote Entrepreneurship and Local Business Efforts

As a successful local businesswoman and entrepreneur, I realize the importance of creating opportunities for individuals to achieve their full potential. I also can attest to the sense of family that comes from local business thriving and contributing to their community. When neighborhoods support each other and stay economically and socially connected, they are less likely to be divisive and more likely to work together to find common ground.

Provide Additional Resources for Families

As our city continues to develop and make decisions, my goal is to represent the families of this diverse and special city by promoting the use of our beautiful parks and more hike and bike trails, and city buildings for low-cost family activities, as well as leadership programs for our teens.

I have a strong work ethic and the tenacity to see things through. I would be honored to represent the families of Richardson through your support and your vote on May 6, 2017, for Richardson City Council Place 4. About Me

About me

I am the mom of four beautiful children — three daughters and a son. Their ages span over 16 years, so we definitely have our hands full at times! I regularly collaborate (and commiserate) with my partner and husband, Joel. He is the definition of hard work and loyalty, and I am grateful to have him on my journey.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in education with a minor in psychology from Liberty University. I taught for a few years in elementary and middle school settings, then completed my master’s in counseling at Southern Methodist University. I own a successful counseling business, The Montfort Group, where we specialize in working with individuals, couples, and families. I have extensive experience working within the mental health community — facilitating groups, conducting assessments, counseling individuals, and performing crisis intervention. I hold an active license in professional counseling and am a board-approved counselor supervisor for the State of Texas. I have received training in collaborative law and am an active member of Collaborative Divorce Texas.

This contribution is made from my own funds, and funds are not being provided to me by another person or entity for the purpose of making this contribution.
I am making this contribution with my own personal credit card and not with a corporate or business credit card or a card issued to another person. I am at least eighteen years old. I am a U.S. citizen or lawfully admitted permanent resident (i.e., green card holder).

One more time?

We are getting so close to the deadline and even closer to realizing a victory in this local election!

I am asking you to contribute ONE last time!  If willing, we could complete our goal and purchase the amount of advertising necessary to reach our target audience.

So much of this campaign is getting the word out about our message; a message of inclusion, transparency, and community.

Will you help us finish strong?

Thank you for the support and encouragement as we head into these final few weeks,

Cory
