Let’s start a movement!
Fiscal Conservative and Socially Progressive

CA-45 congressional seat needs a pro-choice, pro-environment, representative who will invest in education and infrastructure!

Let us send a message that we want Congress to focus on putting Americans First! We do not need more partisan bickering!

Send a message that:

  • Meeting with constituents is important!
  • Reduce job killing regulation on small businesses!
  • We want high-quality public education
  • We want roads and bridges without potholes!
  • We want our children to graduate from college without debt!

In order to defeat the current CA-45 representative, I will need the financial support of many individual contributors like you.

My priorities are as follows:

1. I will hold regular town hall meetings in the district.

2. Reduce regulations on small business.

Small businesses are the engine of our economy. We must ease their regulatory burden so they can innovate.

3. Protect women's health.

We do not need big government making decisions on woman's health issues. Publicly speak out against the defunding of Planned Parenthood.

4. Global warming is real.
I will not support and will publicly work to defeat legislation which will accelerate global warming. Easing EPA regulation of CO2 will negatively impact our district. The Sierra Nevada Snowpack provides our water supply and is critical for California's agriculture.

A market-based system to put a price on carbon is preferable to a big-government regulatory approach.

5. Stand-up to Donald Trump.
When the President makes false claims or signs unethical executive orders which discriminate against district residents who are from Muslim majority nations, it is the responsibility of our representative to publicly speak out.

6. Remain fiscally conservative.
We need to prioritize government spending. I would prioritize education and infrastructure projects instead of wasting money on a wall between the USA and Mexico. In America, our university students should not graduate buried in debt and our roads should not be littered with potholes.

I will work to secure funding for shovel-ready infrastructure projects in Orange County that will provide local jobs, increase business efficiency, and maintain our quality of life.

7. No Repeal of ACA
Congress must work together to craft a health care plan that provides affordable coverage to all Americans. Improving the Affordable Care Act can only be done through bipartisan compromise. Any bill pushed through Congress with only one party support will be highly flawed and will be vulnerable to changes once another party controls Congress. Health care accounts for almost 20% of our nation's economic output, Congress must create a stable environment for investment.

My Background

I have been a professor at Orange Coast College since 1997. I am currently the elected President of the Coast Federation of Educators, the faculty union representing about 1000 full-time and part-time faculty at Orange Coast College, Golden West College, and Coastline College. I have participated in many political campaigns through the Orange County Labor Federation (OCLF) and the California Federation of Teachers (CFT). Additionally, I was the political chair of the faculty union's political action committee. I am the representative for the Coast Community College Faculty at regional (OCLF) political endorsements. I also serve as a representative for Orange County labor at Statewide labor endorsements. I have previously served as a statewide political leader with the California Federation of Teachers.

I have no intention of becoming a career politician. If elected I will stand for the policies listed above, even if it offends party leaders and costs me their endorsements and their financial support. I will work for the residents of CA-45!
