Support a Candidate for the People, Not Corporate Interests!

Will grew up in a farming community near Lansing, MI. Retired from the US Federal Air Marshal Service, and now resides in Bealeton, Virginia. At an early age Will knew he wanted to do something different, make a difference, values instilled in him by his family, his experiences, and his faith. He joined the US Navy in 1993 presenting an opportunity to make a difference. After 10 years in the military Will began seeking new challenges and opportunities to serve. He was honorably discharged and joined the US Capitol Police. After a year he transferred to US Capitol Police Hazardous Material Unit where he served as Hazardous Materials/ Weapons of Mass Destruction Technician. In 2007 he became a Federal Air Marshall. He credits his outlook on working relationships to his time here as a Primary Relief FAM Supervisor. During this period his natural skills as a mentor and motivator were recognized by the peers/assigned supervisors that he led and worked side by side allowing him to grow and nurture his skills in making him the leader he is today.

Will King is running for the Virginia House of Delegates because as a veteran and a retired law enforcement officer he feels it is time to serve his community directly. Having seen and worked with people from all walks of life and differing backgrounds, he knows what is required to encourage others to realize their own potential. This is a skill he will apply in his representative role in the General Assembly. Will lives his life, both personally and professionally, with three core values: Honor, Courage, and Commitment. He says that “elected officials are not elected as leaders. Elected officials are elected as representatives of the people. Today's politicians have failed to remember this truth. As the Delegate for District 18, I work for the people, not corporations or lobbyists. This election, I am working to enable people to retake control of their local government and I will represent that important first step.” Not beholding to any corporate interests, and refusing any corporate contributions to his campaign, Will is a fighter for the people and will hold their interests alone as his own. He is committed to bringing jobs and industry to Virginia, especially those of renewable energy such as solar and wind. Dying and harmful industries need to be transitioned to newer ones, securing our future. Will believes that all Virginians should expect a world-class education. This begins with reforming our current SOL program and a full review of our public school system before investing more monies. We also need to look at the feasibility of adding pre-school to the K-12 system as well as making higher education more accessible. We can also expand and use the community college system to get students into certifiable trades and vocations. Access to healthcare must become a priority at the state level, not federal. We need to be creative and develop a system that works for workers, businesses, veterans, and seniors. Just expanding medicaid eligibility will not serve that purpose. As a 25 year veteran Will King will aid in the furtherance of the Virginia Values Veterans programs in the legislature, helping them find gainful employment, have access to healthcare etc. He will work to ensure that those who serve, or have served are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve; receiving all the benefits they have earned.
