The Justice Alliance is a nonprofit activist think tank, aggressively seeking to improve the quality of life of all Louisianans by empowering and organizing communities at the grassroots level around innovative policy solutions that address relevant issues of equality and social equity.

According the 2016 JustSouth Index, Louisiana currently ranks 51st (of 50 states and the District of Columbia) in all major social justice impact metrics, including the areas of poverty (50th), racial disparities (49th), and immigrant exclusion (48th). In addition, Louisiana has long been home to politics and policies hostile to marginalized & vulnerable communities such as the LGBT, the working poor, and disabled communities.

We believe there is power in the collective and organized passion of grassroots communities mobilized behind specific policy proposals and fueled by their compelling, real, and personal narratives. The Justice Alliance seeks to complement those natural tools with the experience, knowledge, and capacity to leverage them effectively to achieve transformational public policy reforms.

We achieve our goals by pursuing and producing innovative policy research & proposals and communicating them to policymakers and decision-makers through comprehensive grassroots, coalition-led advocacy campaigns.
