Jessica Morse is a 5th-generation Northern Californian running for Congress in California's 4th Congressional District, which includes eastern Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, and the Sierras.

This district is currently represented by Tom McClintock, a right-wing Trump supporter who has been re-elected every cycle with no meaningful opponent – until now.

As the DCCC has recently realized, CA-04 can and should be on the map – and Jessica Morse is the right candidate to take him on.

Daughter of the Foothills: Jessica grew up in Carmichael, graduated from Mira Loma High School, and now lives in Pollock Pines. Jessica and her family still manage the 200 acres of forest that her family settled over a century ago outside of Auburn. Her family spans the geographic spectrum of the district and are deeply rooted in the community.

Public Servant: A devoted public servant, Jessica spent a decade serving her country around the world as a National Security Strategist, working for the Defense Department, State Department, and USAID, including a year and a half in Baghdad at the height of the war. Having worked on the federal budget and with Congress, Jessica has a proven record of getting things done in Washington. Check out her background here.

Local Champion: Jessica’s family spans the socio-economic and geographic spectrum of the district. Her family includes loggers and lawyers; janitors and school teachers; truck drivers and firefighters. She understands the needs of our community and our country.

Outdoors Woman: Jessica grew up hiking, fishing, skiing, backpacking, and rock climbing all over the district. An avid backpacker and outdoors woman, Jessica hiked the length of the entire district on the Pacific Crest Trail (500 miles). See what others say about Jessica here.

Jessica will make a tremendous impact in Congress.  Help get her there!

Look out Tom McClintock

Tom McClintock voted to jeopardize the health care of over 200,000 of his constituents.  Last night, I joined the other prospective candidates in a forum to prove to McClintock that he has competition and he's never safe.  Watch the entire thing here -- skip to the very end if you want to see my message for Tom.  https://www.facebook.com/jessi...

Women Standing Together

The Placer Women Democrats held the first Candidate's forum to help determine who would stand up and represent California's fourth district.  In a district with a 150 year-old Congressional history, no woman has ever represented.  Tuesday night, four women, including me, answered the call.  Two hundred members of the community came out to hear us speak and ask questions about our campaigns.  I feel so honored and proud to be part of a movement of women stepping up and stepping into the limelight to serve.  I was overwhelmed by the warm response of the group and the support and encouragement I have received since.  Thank you all for joining this movement to take back California's 4th district!

Supporting Our Troops Through Science

Thank you for all of your overwhelming supporting.  Today, I joined the crowds in Tahoe/Truckee to celebrate the March for Science.  I marched today to support our troops.  Transporting fuel across warzones resulted in over 3,000 American casualties.  Renewable energy innovation will keep our soldiers safe.  I've written a new blog about my experience and insights in Iraq on the need for renewable energy investment.  See it here: https://morse2018.wordpress.co...

The Start of a Beautiful Friendship

Playing in the sand along the banks of the Merced river in Yosemite at the ripe age of 10, I confided in my cousin that I wanted to be a Congresswoman.  "Why?" she asked me.  "Because I have ideas to help people."  I replied with confidence.

Today, I begin that journey in the very district where that conversation took place.  And after a lifetime of of lessons in academia and the school of hard knocks, my ideas are more refined, practical and strategic, but I've never lost site of my goal: helping my community and my country.

Now there is an urgency to my childhood dream.  Tom McClintock, the incumbent in this district, which includes Yosemite, Lake Tahoe and much of California's natural beauty, is proposing legislation that would jeopardize and exploit the natural resources of the district.  He sits on the natural resources committee, so holds a great deal of influence over the use of America's lands.  If McClintock stays in power much longer, our natural splendor will be sullied. I want my future children to be able to shove chubby hands into the sparkling sand and crystal clear waters of Yosemite's rivers and dream big dreams, inspired by the boundless splendor of California's wilderness.
