As a 13-year Westover resident and civic activist–with a Ph.D. in Political Science and service as a Congressional Fellow–I’m running for County Board because Arlington faces several crises that County Board has failed to address–among them overcrowded schools, loss of green space, and an office vacancy rate double the historic average.

If elected, I pledge to:

  • Emphasize basic services like: streets, schools, libraries and public safety.
  • Seek tax relief for residents and businesses and stop the exodus of federal agencies from Arlington.
  • Promote consolidation of  housing programs to improve efficiency.
  • Promote installation of efficient renewable energy in all public schools.
  • Provide a voice on County Board for all taxpayers.

“Over-development and related tax increases are rampant in Arlington. Recently, the County population increased 10,00 in four years. If continued for twenty years, that would double our population. Tree canopy is decreasing because of wholesale lot clearing and ill-advised County projects, such stream drainage "improvements" that cut down large numbers of mature trees. We need a County Board member who is stronger on the environment and will look more closely at permitting for development projects.”

“Audrey Clemens has an abundance of personal integrity. She has consistently fought for middle class and working people in Arlington. She supports sustainability in our public policy, and transparency for government officials.”

  • Richard Gorsky endorsed

“We need another Independent on the County Board. Audrey would work on behalf of the people first, not on behalf of the special interests.”
