As of October 29, 2017, Scott has decided that he will not be pursuing the Senate seat held by Senator Tester. Instead, Scott will be running for the Montana Legislature. You can donate to his campaign by going to www.mcleanforsenate.com and clicking on "Donate". He can be reached at scott@mcleanforsenate.com Thank you so much for supporting a liberty candidate!

Scott believes strongly that Montana ought to be the freest state in the country, and that the United States ought to be the freest country in the world.

Scott is a third generation Montanan who was born in Missoula and raised in Hamilton. He graduated from Hamilton High School and became an Eagle Scout. He is a graduate of The Marriott School of Business and of The George Washington University Law School.

Scott has served as a law clerk for the Senate Judiciary Committee under the guidance of Senator Orrin Hatch in Washington D.C. He also worked on the successful campaign to elect Senator Pat Toomey to the U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania as a policy aide.

Scott is an attorney who practices in the area of trusts and estates, real estate, Constitutional, and business law. He is a member of the Montana Bar Association. He owns montanafree LLC and is creating  the montanafree foundation, a non-profit dedicated to making Montana the freest state in the country.

Scott is a volunteer firefighter and EMT having completed his firefighter academy training in Fairfax County, Virginia and he now serves as a volunteer firefighter and EMT in the Bitterroot Valley. He enjoys prospecting for dinosaur skeletons, running marathons, and training for the Ironman.

Scott feels strongly that Montana deserves better than the policies that liberal Jon Tester has supported in lockstep with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Scott wishes to join the ranks of Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and Ben Sasse in the U.S. Senate to push forward a reform agenda that centers on a limited form of government that recognizes the rights of the individual and is true to the original vision of the Constitution. Scott understands that the only moral form of government is one that defends the individual's right to freedom. Anything less or more than this is immoral.

Scott is an activist who has fought for freedom. Scott has successfully brought suit in Federal court defending and winning a free speech case that helped expand and cement the right of citizens in the Fourth Circuit to have their right to advertise recognized as free speech. Scott is the Montana State Legislative Liaison for the Convention of States Project. He is involved in, or supports, The Heritage Foundation, The NRA, Gun Owners of America, the FairTax, The Second Amendment Foundation, The TEA Party, Campaign for Liberty, Young Americans for Liberty, Reason Foundation, Pro Life Alliance, Electronic Frontier Foundation, Club for Growth, the Peterson Foundation, FreedomWorks, Americans for Prosperity, Citizens Against Government Waste, The Federalist Society, National Republican Lawyers Association, Pacific Legal Foundation, Atlantic Legal Foundation, Institute for Justice, Mountain States Legal Foundation, and Leadership Institute.

Scott's pledge is simple. He will work with anyone on any side of any aisle who is interested in expanding human liberty. He will put liberty over politics and partisanship. He will stand against anyone, anywhere, on any side of any aisle who is attempting to decrease liberty or distort the meaning or intent of the laws or the Constitution. Please help persuade Scott to enter this very important race by making a financial pledge to help Scott if he decides to run and by signing an endorsement message here on CrowdPAC. We can't afford another six years of Jon Tester casting a liberal vote on behalf of all Montanan's. Montana deserves someone who will reliably vote to expand each individual's freedom to pursue their own very personal version of happiness. The pursuit of happiness requires individual approaches to life, and it requires extraordinary freedom. Scott wants you to be truly free to live your life, and he wishes you success in finding your version of happiness. Please help Scott in making Montana the freest state in the country, and America the freest country in the world.

As of October 29, 2017, Scott can be reached at scott@mcleanforsenate.com

“I have known Scott for years and am pleased to support him as he works to bring real change to Washington. His character is unassailable, and he has always been one of the most focused, hard-working people I know. Scott is a tremendous leader, with a clear compass toward real results -- and always willing to work alongside those he leads. Scott will deliver success wherever he goes and I look forward to supporting him in those journeys.”

“I went through Fairfax County's 6-month volunteer Fire School with Scott. He's obviously a strong believer in individual rights and freedom, but on a personal level, I trust him. He has a cool head, keeps calm under stress, and demonstrates good judgment every time he finds himself in a complicated or dangerous situation. He'll be a great Senator.”

This is a very intense program that demonstrated Scotts determination to succeed and push through some very challenging times... all to help others in their time of need. Scott is someone who puts his life on the line to help others... who else would you want in office?”

Dear “McLean for U.S. Senate” supporters

Dear “McLean for U.S. Senate” supporters,

I am reaching out to you with big news about my future plans. While I am very excited about what I am about to tell you, some of you may be disappointed. I have decided against trying to unseat Senator Tester in the U.S. Senate election taking place next fall. Instead, I am challenging state Senator Pat Connell in an effort to begin my work in the state legislature. I am optimistic that my life can stand for something; that I can move the needle towards liberty.

I am going to give everything I’ve got to trying to get elected so that I can expand liberty. But I can't do it alone. I won't be able to create literature, make phone calls, or send letters to voters without funds from supporters and fellow liberty lovers. A campaign is like a business -- it simply can't get off the ground without start-up capital. I plan on running a financially intelligent, lean campaign, and to do things at the lowest possible cost. That's why I created my own website at www.mcleanforsenate.com . That's why I am creating my own literature and my own campaign video. It’s why I am going to try to knock on as many doors as I can between now and the June primary election. But it still takes generous support from friends, family, and supporters. Simply put, the more resources I have, the more people I am going to be able to reach with my liberty message.

Please consider moving your pledge over to my new website, and turning it from a hypothetical pledge into a real contribution at www.mcleanforsenate.com.

Because I am not entering the U.S. Senate race, the pledge which you originally made through CrowdPac will not materialize and your credit card will never be charged. That pledge, which you made to my campaign on CrowdPac, was contingent on me getting into the United States Senate race. That was the investment that you were making. I thank you so much for making that investment to try to get a real liberty candidate into office in Montana. That investment can still be made on a smaller scale, by helping me to make Montana the freest state in the country. In order to do so, I will need to get into the legislature. And in order to do that, I will need a lot of financial help from a lot of people.

So please consider investing in me and my campaign by going to www.mcleanforsenate.com and make good on the pledge that you originally made here on CrowdPac. Go to the Donate link on my website. The maximum donation an individual can make is $340. Spouses can contribute $680 if the donation is split between them.

While you are there, I hope each of you who wrote an endorsement message on CrowdPac -- and those of you who didn't -- will click on the Endorsements tab of my website and leave a kind endorsement message for me. It is really encouraging for me to read them.

Thank you so much and I hope to make Montana the freest state.

Scott Roy McLean
