A note from Cynthia:

After graduating from Carmi-White County High School '99, Wabash Valley College '02, and Southeastern Illinois College '07, I decided to open a small business in Olney.

I want to be YOUR state representative.

I will fight every day to keep our region competitive. I know we can do so much more than just get by. As a region and as a state: we need to get ahead, stay ahead, and stand out.

  • As a fourth-generation small business owner, I understand the need for economic diversity in our area. We must work to keep small and medium businesses growing (and welcome new ones).
  • As a volunteer, I understand the need for everyone to work together. No single person (or group) can improve southeastern Illinois without listening to his or her neighbors. I sincerely believe in compromise, communication, and community.
  • As an aunt of three children enrolled in Illinois public schools, I understand the need to fully fund public education at every level. We have got to start prioritizing education as an investment (not merely an expense).

This is a true grassroots campaign (we do not have big money, but we have big goals!). Individual donors are already helping us connect with thousands of people in southeastern Illinois.

To date, we have raised over $5,000. We can unite even more people with your help.

  • Your pledge will help everyone work TOGETHER to bring opportunities to southeastern Illinois and new leadership to Springfield.
  • To be clear, when I say everyone... I mean everyone. We have no Republican highways or Democrat hospitals. We share a number of common goals. I know that we can achieve those goals when we work together. -Cynthia

  • My family has called southeastern Illinois home for generations. Our roots run deep and cover most of the district! My father is a retired AFSCME employee (Lawrence Correctional Center) and lives in White County with my step-mother. My paternal grandparents were born and raised in Edwards and White counties. My sister graduated from the Frontier Community College nursing program. All three of my sister's children attend public school in our district. My mother works with me at the family business in Richland County. My step-brother and step-sister live and work in southern Illinois, too. We believe our district is a great place to live and work.

If you live, learn, and earn in our district, you probably already know how small of a world it really is! If we have not met yet, please connect with me on Facebook and share your vision for southeastern Illinois: elect@cynthiagiven.com

  • Check your spam folder! You will receive an important update after you pledge (supporters receive an email regardless of pledge size). Whether it's $5 or $500... your pledge will help us unite voters and let our voice be heard in Springfield.

District 109 includes all of White, Richland, Clay, Edwards, Jasper, Wabash, Wayne and parts of Effingham and Lawrence Counties.

  • Cynthia believes in operating Illinois on a balanced budget. It will take a tremendous effort to reach that goal, and she is very interested in hearing your ideas.

It's (almost) official... thanks to you!

Hello, friend. I have great news!

While I've been listening to voters, attending trainings, and celebrating my birthday (!) this month, I've also set up a PO Box, a fundraising account, and I'm planning my official announcement.
