Like almost everyone on this site I hate and despise what Trump, Pence, Ryan, the Cabinet and the republican controlled Congress and Senate is doing to our people and country. I will resist and protest their actions until we can take back the congress in 2018 or the White House in 2020. While I am hoping this will happen I will take the words of Tip O'Neill to heart that "all politics are local" and run in a district where I can help and protect people from our current leadership immediately.

Montgomery County, MD is one of the wealthiest and considered most liberal counties in what is considered the most liberal state in the country. While this may be true the 2nd Council District in Montgomery County is considered to be one of the most diverse election districts in the United States. It has a large population of undocumenteds and minorities, large populations of our county workers, service workers, day laborers, union workers and unemployed. It has incinerators, landfills, dumps and similar facilities and plants to service the entire county and many like the incinerator is already a serous health hazard to all who live near it. This is an area that needs a Progressive Council Member to protect their constituents rights. Instead the incumbent Democrat cast one of the votes that defeated the $15 an hour minimum wage, has not been a vocal supporter to keep the county a sanctuary city and most of his votes favor our corporations and large business instead of the workers needs and protections.

I'm proud to have a 42 year record as a Progressive that led to the Sanders campaign endorsing my 2016 Congressional campaign. As the Council member for the 2nd District I'll be the leading voice for a $15 an hour minimum wage. I'll be a voice and vote for the rights of county employees, union workers and all workers to make sure they have sick leave, health care, bargaining rights, pension protection and all the benefits they so rightly deserve. I'll vote to ensure Montgomery County stays a Sanctuary City to protect everyone of our residents and will become a minister and make my own home a sanctuary if necessary to protect any people who are threatened by ICE.  I'll put an end to our district being the home of all the antiquated waste disposal systems that service the rest of the county and endangered the health and well being of our residents and replace them all with modern state of the art environmentally clean facilities that will not only protect lives but create new jobs and industry for our district.

While this is getting long I will refer you to any of my sites to read all about what I've done for people in the past. Finally I recently was the runner up to Kathleen Mathews to be the Chairman of the State Democratic Party at the same time Keith was the runner up to Tom Perez to be Chairman of the DNC. I spoke up for all our progressive groups and how they needed to be included in the leadership of our state party if we want to win back the governorship and make our Democratic Party what it once was. After strongly making all my points I had the privilege of having our state's senior senator and senior member of Congress praise me as the Progressive voice of our State Democratic party for 40 years and speak of how important it is for us to all come together for the good of the party. They did this as they meant it even though they were backing my opponent.

In the end I asked that we include members from our progressive groups in the party leadership to make our party what it should be and they agreed. The result was all the progressive groups were called to a meeting and told they could elect one of their members to have a seat on the 82 member State Party Executive Board which has very little authority.  To me that was and is not enough and I told then so.

If we are to going help the people who need help the most and take back the party that used to be the party of the people we have to take it upon ourselves to win seats on every level from school board to United States Senator. To do this we need groups like Crowdpac as we are all working together to achieve our goals. Thank you. Now let's all win!
