When I was six years old I learned the importance of having an education. I remember looking up at my mom and my first grade teacher as they tried to map out the next steps in my education. They were trying to decide if I should repeat first grade and stay in the classroom or be placed in a remedial class. I remember thinking I can learn and I can do the work. The decision to allow me to stay in the classroom and further my education changed my life. That experience allowed me to understand the importance of education and that all kids can learn.
I am now an educator and my passion is to use my life, my education and my skills in service to others . I decided to run for the Birmingham Board of Education District 5 because I know I can make a difference in the lives of our kids. I can make a difference by working to open a level of accountability with the community that supports our school system, by putting policies in place that allow our kids to learn in a safe environment, by working to give our teachers the support they need to educate our kids, and by addressing weak areas in our schools by implementing programs and educational initiatives that will place our kids in the top percentile. It's time to raise the bar and I need your support.
Any donation amount is welcomed. Your donation will allow me and my team the resources to go out and canvass the neighborhoods door-by-door, provide flyers and signs, provide voter registration events and much more.
Nelson Mandela said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Help me fight for our kids. The opportunity to be educated changed my life and now its time for all of us to stand for the future of our kids.
