Amy Gillespie has been bringing transparency and accountability to Bentonville schools through her facebook page, Bentonville Public Schools United, since 2014. Now it is time to take the next step. Amy is ready to be an official voice for the families of Bella Vista.

Bella Vista families are an important part of Bentonville Schools, however, over the years we've been treated like an after thought. We deserve a representative who understands our community and our families, who appreciates the sacrifices we are asked to make as Bentonville grows to the South, and who will listen to our concerns and bring them to the administration.

A native Arkansan, Amy is a small business owner with experience in secondary education, corporate compliance, and broadcasting. She has served as a Cooper Elementary PTO officer since 2015, and she sits on both the Cooper Elementary and Bentonville School District parental involvement committees.  She is the mother of a rising 3rd grader and a kindergartner at Cooper Elementary. In her spare time she volunteers as co-leader of a Girl Scout Brownie Troop.

  • Kelly Bulot endorsed

“Amy is exactly who Bentonville needs on their board. We need more people representing and caring for our kids that actually have their best interests at heart and she does. She is absolutely not a terrorist and shame on anyone that would dare insult her good name. Vote for her and your vote will be put to good use.”

“I have known Mrs. Gillespie for many years. I am supporting her for Bentonville School Board for the following reasons: She has a powerful and commanding sense of justice, obeying the law and doing the right thing. She is passionate about treating all people with respect and dignity. She is willing to step up when others will not. She is devoted to all our children, regardless of race, or economic standing. She is brave, speaking out for all our children at a time of tremendous social unrest. She is kind, big hearted and is willing to go the distance for someone in need. I could go on and on. Amy needs to be on the school board. She will hold the board accountable and transparent to the community and WILL be a voice of reason with the education and wellbeing of our children front and center. I am proud to know her, and whole heartedly endorse her for Bentonville school board. Sandra Simmons”

“My wife and I live in Bella Vista. My wife has worked as a multi-district substitute teacher, in Bentonville and throughout Northwest Arkansas. As a minority, my wife has struggled to find inclusion within what is supposedly a culturally diverse community. I think Amy represents the future for Bentonville. Her presence insures that children will have a chance to learn from and about multiple cultures, races and backgrounds. I was stunned when Amy told me that one school's minority affairs classroom focused on the challenges of being white in an increasingly diverse community. Bentonville schools are teaching an increasingly rich and diverse group of students that need new classrooms, computers and parking--not glamorous football stadiums.”

Amy Gillespie to Run for Bentonville School Board Zone 2

July 5, 2017- BENTONVILLE

Today, Amy Gillespie filed paperwork to run for the Zone 2 seat on Bentonville Schools Board of Education.

Amy is well known as the administrator of the popular Facebook page, Bentonville Public Schools United, where she has been a trusted source for news on school board meetings since 2014. She is a small business owner with experience in secondary education, corporate compliance, and broadcasting. Amy is the mother of a rising 3rd grader and a kindergartner at Cooper Elementary. Since 2015 she has served as the secretary of Cooper PTO and currently volunteers on both the Cooper and Bentonville School District parental involvement committees.

"I'm excited to take this next step," Amy said. "Since 2014 I have offered factual information, advocated for parents and children, directed people to appropriate district personnel to resolve issues, and built relationships with parents and district officials alike. I stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Bella Vista parents to stand up for our kids when our leaders wouldn't. I am looking forward to serving our families and community as a member of the Board of Education."

Amy will work for thoughtful changes to the process of boundary adjustments, improved equity in both facilities and programs, long range planning, transparency, accountability, and improved fiscal responsibility. For more information or to volunteer please visit www.amygillespieforbps.com .

“If you live in Bella Vista, including especially my friends at St Theodore's, please make the effort to vote in the school board election. Amy Simmons Gillespie is a positive, energetic, and progressive Arkansas native and a mom who is active in the schools in all kinds of ways. It's easy to stay home from such an "unimportant" election and leave the next generation's education in the hands of the same dark forces who were marching through Charlottesville with Nazi flags. If you don't think they make a strong effort to get their people to the polls so they can control your school board, then you're not paying attention, Please plan to vote, and please support Amy.”
