WHAT DOES EDWIN DUTERTE BELIEVE?

I am a focused entrepreneur, a pro-life, conservative Republican who will support the right solutions to our health care system, veteran care, immigration, national debt, and employment problems, as well as support our Second Amendment.

I firmly believe that Congress can create a positive business environment that will help the private sector thrive.  I want to be the legislator who not only understands technology, but who initiates the development of federal programs whereby the private sector collaborates with the full educational spectrum to produce high wage STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) jobs and entrepreneurs.

I believe parents should have the right to choose the best education for their children, not the Federal Government.

WHAT INSPIRED EDWIN DUTERTE'S BELIEFS?

I am the son of immigrant parents from the Philippines.  My father was born in 1940, just prior to World War II.  My father used to tell me stories of when the Japanese soldiers raided his town, when he was a toddler.  He remembers tall weeds and bamboo brushing the bottoms of his feet, as his siblings carried him while running for their lives into the mountains to hide.   It is hard for me to imagine what his school aged brothers and sisters had going through their heads during that time.

When my father was ready to enter the workforce, he worked in the rice fields and quickly learned that such a life would be a very hard life.  Shortly thereafter, he was fortunate enough to be able to enroll into a prestigious university, where he was able to earn a bachelor’s degree.  In 1967, the United States had a newly created immigration program that allowed for professionals to earn the privilege of being able to gain a US visa.  He applied for the immigration visa, and was approved to enter the United States.  My father then married my mother in January, 1968.

At that time, my grandmother was very ill with cancer.  Although my father and uncle were approved for their visas, and had a financial sponsor in San Francisco, the two wanted to wait until my grandmother's death, out of respect for their mother.  She knew they wanted to live the American dream, and wanting the best for her children, told them to leave.  They reluctantly left their mother, siblings and the town they loved in March, 1968.  Two days later, and just prior to boarding the plane in the Manila airport, they learned their mother died.  My father had $111 in his pocket.

During a short stop-over in Hong Kong, my father invested $50 and bought business suits.  My father and uncle then lived with relatives for two months, without being a burden on the government.  They found bookkeeping jobs that paid around $4 an hour. My father taught me not only the importance of hard work, but also the value of investing in education.

In August of 1968, my mother followed my father to the U.S. and they lived in San Francisco.  My eldest sister was born in October, 1968.  I was born in December, 1969.  In 1973, both my parents became proud, naturalized citizens of the United States of America.

In 1975, my parents petitioned my grandparents, who, when their Visa’s were approved, lived with us until they passed away in the early 2000's.  In 1975, my parents petitioned for my mother's two siblings and my father's remaining six siblings to come to the United States, with all of their children.  It took twelve years for their Visa approval to enter the United States, and subsequently, we had over twenty family members living in our home.

When I graduated from high school, I wanted to move out of my house because there were so many of my family members living under one roof. I moved out, but was only able to afford to live in a drug-infested apartment project in San Jose in 1987.  I could only take living in that environment for a month, and I decided that I needed to secure employable skills.  I started college, and earned my Real Estate license in 1989.

As you can see, my parents influenced and shaped my conservative perspectives; from understanding immigration issues, to work ethics, to family values.

Please consider seriously, my bid to be your US Representative.  I will always give 100% of my best efforts and I will work with all involved and interested members of our community, to make our community a better place.

Any contribution will be appreciated and I would love to have your support.

“It is with great pleasure that I endorse Mr. Edwin Duterte as a Congressional candidate. I have known Mr. Duterte since he was in grade school. I do not endorse Mr. Duterte as a member of a political party, or as a member of any particular ideology. I endorse Mr. Duterte because of the superior caliber of his character, and because of the respect and integrity that I know he possesses. Many who now occupy the halls of Congress, speak of integrity, yet fight for the power of their own political party, their own personal power, or to tear down those on the other side of the aisle. To stop this sort of adversarial nonsense, we need new representatives, new blood, and new cooperative type of Representative. Mr. Duterte epitomizes that mode of thought and will change Congress, for the better. What we tolerate, we cannot change! Elect Edwin Duterte, help to make that change.”
