I am a mother of two kids and I am passionate about children and education. I believe that there are learning opportunities everywhere in the world, if we can just cultivate a love of learning in our kids. I believe that all children learn differently and need different resources from their school. I want to make sure that all children are given equal opportunities to learn by helping support individual learning environments. Children also need to feel safe and secure in that environment, and as such, I want to make sure that our schools are safe places for all children.

I have an extensive background in research, having both an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Statistics. I believe that using research and data to support the decisions of the school board is necessary. Whether we are looking at budgets or academic achievement levels, a systematic approach to decision-making helps to ensure unbiased policies that will provide the greatest benefits to our students.

With my passion and my background, I believe that I would be an excellent choice to serve the Hastings community. Thank you for your support!

Two exciting announcements!

Our first official announcement is an endorsement! On Tuesday of this week, I was given official notice that I had been endorsed by womenwinning, the largest women's PAC in Minnesota.  I am incredibly proud and excited to have their support behind me. If you would like to learn more about womenwinning, you can check them out at womenwinning.org.

I would also like to announce that we have met our first fundraising goal, raising over $1,000! It has been a lot of work, but it's been fun and exciting the whole time. Since we still have two months until the election, we are setting up a stretch goal of $1,500. If we are able to reach that point it means more handouts, more ads, and more visibility. The kids and I will be knocking on doors all day tomorrow, distributing campaign notepads, and placing signs. It should be a fun day and we are all looking forward to it!

Thank you so much to everyone for your support. I could not do this without you!

A Huge Thank You!

I just noticed that I can write an update that gets sent out to everyone and it seemed only fitting that the first update be about all of the campaign supporters. I have tried to contact everyone individually, but for those that I wasn't able to reach, THANK YOU! Without all of your support (both financial and emotional) I would not be able to do this. So far, the campaign has raised just over $725. Our goal is to raise $1,000 and we are of course working on the ground here.

So far, I have been able to purchase buttons, door-to-door campaign handouts, and signs. The kids and I started door knocking this week and I am so happy to say that people have had a very supportive view of our campaign goals. We are trying to win this by using brute force and we will be trying to head out everyday to knock on more doors.

If you are interested in following the campaign more closely, I have a Facebook site set up and you can check us out there. I will be posting updates, photos, and maybe even some videos. The link is facebook.com/kelseywaitsMN

Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart. Each and every one of you is amazing.
