Sisu and the commitment to public service inclusive of full representation of every voting and non voting constituent and resident of Michigan's 109th Legislative District regardless of age, race, identity, socioeconomic status or belief is what defines this campaign.

Corporations and government have reigned supreme and the interests of poor and working class people have been under served as wealth disparities continue to grow and what was once a thriving middle class continues to shrink.

We are overpaying for electrical power and the current plan is for another 3 decades of subsidization of the Tilden, with two new UPPCO 60 MW natural gas fired power plants dedicated to serving much of this district outside of the City of Marquette.

The lion's share of the costs of these new plants to be borne by residential and small business customers, while the lion's share of the power is consumed by the mining industry.

We must invest in renewable energy now, not 30 years from now.

Solar, wind and small scale CHP (combined heat and power) gasified biomass fueled electrical generating plants operating on locally sourced fuel, interconnected to newly created and highly efficient micro grids within our own communities that will utilize all the energy produced from these private and publicly owned renewable power sources; not dumping their "waste heat" directly into the environment.

We can fall back on this locally sourced biomass for our wintertime base load, when demand for thermal energy is highest; not natural gas pipelined into the Upper Peninsula from either downstate or afar, that vacuums the energy dollars out of our local and regional economies.

Increasing our local and regional agricultural output by growing more of our own fruits, vegetables and grains; raising more high quality grass fed livestock to feed not only ourselves, but the million or more guests that visit the district annually.

This  is vital to keeping more of each dollar spent in the Upper Peninsula here to recirculate and be invested in homes, businesses, our communities and supporting infrastructure.

Our State and Federal governments are currently run from the top down, not from the grassroots up; deciding our fates without sharing sufficient information of what is to come to maintain a truly educated citizenry, without which true democracy simply isn't viable.

I swore an oath in February of 1990 as a State of Michigan civil servant, a Corrections Officer and have honored that commitment each day since; throughout my service to the People of the State of Michigan from 1990-1998 and the two decades since.

I am intimately familiar with how the State of Michigan's executive branch serves its own and corporate interests within our bureaucracies.

The public's best interests and the common welfare of every Michigan citizen must come first before corporate and business interests.

I will stand firm for the rights of pensioners and the benefit packages of all retirees; city, county, state or corporate and will advocate for a radical change from the current practice of investing our state treasury's dollars into corporate subsidies, serving big business interests; while Lansing turns a blind eye to the financial plights of the very cities, communities and local governments from where these dollars originate.

This is how we renew our local and regional economies and grow them from the grassroots up and reinvigorate our democracy.

Join with us in making Michigan's 109th the greenest and most economically productive legislative district in this great State of Michigan.

The very first to become carbon neutral, agriculturally self supporting and energy independent.

Where every citizen is food secure and our agricultural production practices are environmentally sustainable as we not only preserve what we already have, but improve it utilizing biochar to sequester carbon and improve our soil quality for generations to come.

These are all goals we must as Americans attain someday, everywhere.

We are the "heart and soul" of the Upper Peninsula; let us lead Michigan into a sustainable, economically and socially just future together, here and now.

Yes We Can

"We need new ideas and a fresh approach to the revitalization of our political system and building a sustainable economy that supports a high quality of life for every resident of this district, regardless of age, identity or belief.

I pledge to work tirelessly to make this the reality in the 109th and with your support we can, must and will change the status quo.

We can lead this state in carbon neutrality, energy independence and true food security, utilizing small scale rain fed organic agricultural techniques, well suited for our relatively sparse and largely rural population and by so doing keep the spending of our many guests circulating and invested in our local and regional economies."
