I am running for Assembly because I have what it takes to be a great legislator and effect valued, purpose-driven change. I am a passionate, visionary leader.
I am the triumph of the Everyday Woman.
Mom. Wife. Muslimah.
Daughter. Sister. Friend.
Advocate. Fighter. Mediator.
Thinker. Mentor. Leader.
Organizer. Activist. Guerrera.
Ethical. Passionate. Visionary.
I am running for Assembly because I believe in the power of everyday people to make a real difference in the way our society is governed and guided.
I am running for Assembly because I believe this district deserves a fighter.
Someone who will fight for the elderly and the poor.
Someone who will fight for our children.
Someone who will fight for the middle class and the working class.
Someone who will fight for people with disAbilities, our Veterans and our Wounded Warriors.
Someone who will fight for small business without running away our business partners who provide our residents with good jobs and tax revenues which keep our cities in the black.
Someone who knows the most effective government entities take care of people first, idealism last.
I am running for Assembly because I know We, as Americans, can do better, should do better, will do better - once we stop the ego trips and selfishness which is pervasive with career politicians whom focus on self-service rather than public service - who forgot what 'representative' meant, instead opting for personal wants over constituent needs.
I am running for Assembly because after a lifetime of community service, I know public service is what I am meant to do.
Whether fighting local/state funding missteps, forcing reconsideration of local school closures, confronting school boards & city councils' fiscal mismanagement activities, fighting for and championing causes which serve our children, elderly, people with disAbilities, the disadvantaged or disenfranchised, the underrepresented and the unrepresented, stepping up and fighting for what's right - whether on the streets of Alameda County or Contra Costa County, Sacramento or on Capitol Hill – is not new to me. That’s why I am running for Assembly.
I am running for Assembly because every little girl - of every hue and age and size, especially the very naturally tanned brown girls who are so seldom represented in the halls of state and federal government need to see someone like me as a possibility and her voice matters.
I am running for Assembly because every little girl - of every faith, especially Hijabi Muslimahs like me and young orthodox Jewish girls who are not yet represented in the hallowed halls of state and federal government need to know she matters and her voice matters too.
I am running for Assembly because every woman of every hue deserves to have her voice heard every time and every man of every hue deserves to recognize and acknowledge the importance of her voice.
AND so does every little boy, every teenage boy, every young man need and deserve these things - as now more than ever each of our sons, brothers, husbands, Tíos, coworkers, neighbors, friends need to see Women like me in a positive light and envision their sisters, Mothers, Tías, Grandmothers, friends in the same positive, powerful, capable way.
I am running for Assembly because I am a diverse woman who has spent a lifetime helping diverse people in diverse communities and having lived and worked in this diverse district, I know it deserves true, diverse representation which hears the voices of every sector of our community, not just the wealthy or well-voiced; a representative who takes the time to know their needs, lets them know their voices matter, they matter, they count.
I am running for Assembly because I know I can make a difference and I can change the dynamics of this society which is begging each of us to step up.
I am running for Assembly because this is about more than just me. This is about US. This is just the first step. There is no more time to wait. It's about right here. It's about right now. It's time. Let's do this TOGETHER to Assembly.
El tiempo es ahora. The time is now.
