It’s past time for the working families of America to take control of our government and make it work for us rather than just the special interests. 2018 will mark a tidal shift in the American political landscape. The high quality of congressional challengers stepping up nationally to bring this about is inspiring. I am honored to be among them.

During this race, I won't accept campaign contributions from PACs or large businesses. I'll be funded 100% by individuals like yourself. That is because I have always believed special interest politics contributes to the degradation of our republic. Members of Congress do not represent their constituents when they accept millions of dollars from special interests.

Americans are tired of daily political chaos. We want to transcend the deeply divisive rhetoric of 2017 and find ways to work together.

In recent weeks, I have been busily assembling a team of concerned citizens who will help me deliver a message of encouragement and empowerment to the voters of Florida's Second Congressional District. Our campaign message is a positive one. That's why I have adopted the campaign slogan "Working Together." That’s what we intend to make possible.

During the coming months, I plan to focus on the financial empowerment of Middle America. I will explain that I support policies and programs that will bring prosperity to 100% of the people living in my district, not just the super wealthy. I do not plan to waste limited resources complaining about what others have not done well in the past. I will hi-lite what I plan to do well in the future.

We do not have much time to show the voters that Brandon Peters will be a strong voice in Congress. The Democratic Primary is on August 28, and mail-in ballots will be delivered in mid-July. There's lots to do between now and then.

Thank you for your early support of this crusade. It is encouraging to know so many people share my vision for a better tomorrow.

As an undergraduate student at Princeton University, I learned to think for myself and find solutions to problems, no matter how daunting. I continued that journey when I worked for my cousin, Les Aspin, in Washington, D.C. My analytical skills were honed at UVA Law School. During my quarter century as a civil trial attorney, I learned the importance of listening and the value of empathy. When I taught law students at Florida A&M University, I was reaffirmed in my belief that people can have a polite debate regardless of skin color, socio-economic background or political affiliation. As a professional mediator, I understand that nearly any dispute can be guided to a satisfactory, mutually beneficial resolution if the participants are reasonable.

These are some of the forces which have shaped me. These are some of the tools I can take to our nation's capital. But I can only do it with your help. I'm now ready to embark on a mission of public service. I'm ready to serve the people of Florida with leadership that benefits the entire country.

I humbly offer myself to the people of Florida's Second Congressional District.

I reject the "voodoo economics" of well-paid lobbyists. As your elected official, I will fight for the sound, proven, economic policies that start in Middle America - through REAL tax relief, a fair minimum wage and truly affordable health care. In Congress, I will be a fierce advocate for environmental conservation, individual rights and fundamental respect for the dignity of all individuals. If elected, I'll work tirelessly to promote our national security at home and abroad. I’ll work to liberate our country from its addiction to fossil fuels. I’ll favor expanding job retraining programs and offering better college loan repayment assistance. I’ll support responsible gun ownership while increasing funding for mental health. I’ll oppose bigotry and intolerance at every turn.

Stacey and I live in a rural county on Florida's Gulf Coast.  She and I are both Native Floridians. Wherever we travel in our fine state, we are confronted by the effects of a struggling education system, the scourge of substance abuse, the corrosive results of systemic poverty and the long-term impacts of power concentrated in the hands of a corrupt and privileged few.

We believe all citizens in our state deserve the same opportunities in life. Please support us in our quest to reclaim our country from the forces that have co-opted our government.

A vote for me is a vote for the entire State of Florida...but it's also a vote for future generations in all 50 states. Support this campaign to improve the lives of our children and grandchildren throughout the United States.  Together, we will make a difference.

If elected, I promise to do all within my power to represent the hard-working families of Florida. I will represent you, not the special interests of the large monopolies. Thank you for working together with me to give voice to all those currently unrepresented. Please help make this opportunity a reality with your contribution today.

“Our group in Levy County endorses Mr. Peters for many reasons, including his grasp of the complexity of issues facing our country, his willingness to take the time to listen to different opinions on those issues, his understanding of the difference between pushing his personal agenda and accepting the will of constituents, and his commitment to be guided by The People.”

“We have had the pleasure of having had Brandon S. Peters as a valued member of our Panel of Distinguished Neutrals for several years. During that time, and for many years before joining us, Brandon has served as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil, Family Law and Appellate Court Mediator, a Certified Federal Court Mediator, a court-appointed arbitrator, a private trial judge and as a special master- the full range of practice as a neutral. He is one of our most gifted colleagues, and gives generously of his time and talent in providing insight and training to our clients through our outreach programs. He has brought unbridled enthusiasm and creativity to our practice, together with the rich experience he acquired over the course of a successful career as a trial lawyer. Moreover, his keen intellectual curiosity and willingness to explore unconventional approaches to vexing conflicts blend perfectly with the demands of today's complex public environment. He is a problem solver; he’ll get things done. Brandon possesses the qualities of temperament, intelligence and judgement we all seek in selecting one to represent us as a Congressman. He is respectful and engaging; and passionately focused on the interests of the District he seeks to represent. I wholeheartedly support Brandon’s candidacy, and enthusiastically recommend him for election to Congress.”

PLEDGE CONVERSION

Good Morning My Friends,

Although I pronounced earlier I would not run for Congress unless and until I received $100,000 in personal contributions, all indicators strongly suggest we're on course to make that goal a rapid reality. Therefore, I'm going ALL IN...now.

Many people I have consulted on this decision have asked me, "Why wait when the hardworking people of our district need a voice, and you're ready to provide that voice?" After thoughtful consideration, I have concluded that they are correct. It would be foolhardy for me and my campaign team to remain bound by an arbitrary goal when it will hinder our ability to compete in this election.

There is another reason why I have made this decision - so long as the CrowdPac platform is in pledge mode (rather than live contributions mode), CrowdPac charges the campaign a service fee of 8%. When we switch to to the live contributions platform, that fee drops to 3%. I trust you share my view that the additional 5% will be better spent on bumper stickers and yard signs than on unproductive overhead. By changing our approach to fundraising, we will have saved more than $3,000 that would have otherwise gone to CrowdPac when we hit $100,000.

In case you are wondering, we are going to use the $35,000 we have raised on CrowdPac to hire a Campaign Finance Director, build a website at www.peters4congress.com and put up a billboard near the intersection of every major city in the Second Congressional District. Those strategic maneuvers will accelerate our pace of fundraising and promote voter awareness very quickly.

Thank you for your votes of confidence. Please keep those contributions coming, and let’s realize our commitment to take government away from the big business lobbyists and restore it to the people.

Your friend,

  Brandon

P.S. Please contact me within the next 72 hours if this decision poses a financial hardship for you. I will delay the conversion until noon EST on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. My personal cell phone is (352) 226-5001.

I NEED YOUR HELP!

My Dear Friends,

I need your help. We have raised $35,000 in pledges since October, but I won't run unless I raise $100,000 before the April filing deadline.

The congressman I'm running against in November takes obscene amounts of campaign money from special interests including Big Sugar, Big Telecom, Big Lumber and Big Medicine. These might as well be bribes. If you study the congressman's voting record, there's only one conclusion you can draw. The elections system as we know it is corrupt and broken. Our representatives are not acting in our best interest.

I do not take campaign money from lobbyists or corporations. I accept individual donations only. I believe that is the only way to maintain the integrity of our election process. I'll bet you agree with me on that.

So, I ask this favor, and I don't ask it lightly. Please ask two friends to go to this crowdfunding site today and make a pledge to my campaign to end the status quo in Washington, D.C. Help me restore sanity in our nation's capital.

Nobody can afford to sit quietly on the sidelines this year. It's all hands on deck. Complacency is no longer an option.

I thank you sincerely for your support.

In hope and trust,

 - Brandon

WE'RE OFF TO THE RACES...

Happy New Year Team!

As I have communicated with U.S. House candidates in other congressional districts, I have become convinced that 2018 will mark a tidal shift in the American political landscape. The high quality of congressional challengers is astounding...nationally.

Americans are tired of daily political chaos. They want safe harbor from the deeply divisive rhetoric of 2017.

In recent weeks, I have been busily assembling a team of concerned citizens who will help me deliver a message of hope to the voters of Florida's Second Congressional District. Our campaign message will be a positive one. That's why I have adopted the campaign slogan "Working Together."

PICKING UP THE PACE

Good Morning,

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends.

I am writing to let you know that we have raised nearly $28,000 in pledges. I also want you to be aware of our year-end game plan.

We are about to make a concerted two-week effort to generate another $10,000 for the campaign. We will use this new money to conduct our initial poll of voters in Florida's Second Congressional District. I am very interested in knowing which issues are of greatest concern to them.

Politicians should represent YOU, not well-financed special interests.
Returning politics to the voters requires a thorough understanding of those voters and their needs.

If you know anybody who shares our vision for new leadership in Washington, D.C., please invite them to join us on Giving Tuesday by supporting our campaign.

FIRST GOAL REACHED!

My Friends,

I am pleased to announce that our campaign just accomplished its first major goal - raising $25,000 in less than three weeks.

With this achievement, we have surpassed our closest Democratic Primary challenger.

Fundraising normally slows down just before the holidays and picks up again in January. However, it is not in my nature to accept what is "normal." Stacey and I are continuing to work hard behind the scenes.

Thank you for your participation in our movement to restore civility to your government in Washington, D.C.

Closing in on the campaign's first major fundraising goal...

Dear Friends,

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Nearly every successful political campaign excels at early fundraising. Having written that, I am happy to report that this campaign is $130 shy of collecting $20,000 in pledges. My closest primary competitor, an established Tallahassee politician, has raised around $23,000, two-thirds of it already spent. This week, with continued effort, our campaign will surpass that individual by eclipsing the $25,000 mark. Please continue to spread the word so it happens. Without momentum, we will sputter out and fail. Our nation cannot afford another failure. Future generations are counting on us to restore order to Congress.

LET'S CLEAN HOUSE!

First Goal Reached

Exciting news...we reached our first fundraising goal: $10,000. We did it in one week. Tomorrow, I will announce the campaign on social media. Our next goal is $100,000...before the end of the year.

Thank you all for being such important parts of this crusade. We need to save our country. Inaction is not an option.

The Lack of Civility in Political Discourse

In the 1980s, Ronald Reagan and Tip O'Neill could sit down over a friendly lunch and work out the upcoming year's national budget. Sadly, those days are long gone. In fact, today's political climate has become toxic. Families are divided. Friendships are strained. Communication is stretched to the breaking point...when it occurs at all.

Please join me on Facebook Live at 10:00 a.m. EST today for a discussion of this troubling development.
