I am ready to give my all for my Western Pennsylvania home. I will use my wide ranging experience, skills and education to make sure that the people of Western Pennsylvania have a voice in Washington that represents our shared goals and values. As a Congresswoman I will be guided by what growing up and living in the Western Pennsylvania area has taught me. We are Western Pennsylvania strong and Western Pennsylvania connected.PROUD WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA ROOTS
I grew up in a family with a history of hard work and commitment: having a grandfather who worked as a coal miner, and grandfather who worked as a union steelworker; my father, a veteran, was the first to attend and graduate from college. My father served in the Army and then went to law school. I am the middle child of six, with humble beginnings, I understand what it takes to work to achieve my goals. After graduating from Quaker Valley High school in 1978, I attended the University of Pittsburgh on a women's basketball scholarship and was team captain my senior year. My experience at Pitt taught me, teamwork, discipline, time management, leadership skills and an incredible work ethic.
A few years after graduating from Pitt, I attended and worked my way through Duquesne University Law school, attending classes in the evening and working during the day. I was the class representative of the student bar association. During my third year I was surprisingly blessed with the birth of my first son. My experience in law school taught me to never give up no matter what crosses your path and that you just have to continue to work hard.
Upon graduating law school, I began practicing law with my father, running a successful litigation firm. We have continued to practice law together for 27 years. My experience learning from and working with my father has taught me that I have to fight for justice for the people I represent as they have no voice without me.
I am the proud mother of two sons. When my sons were in grade school at St James, Sewickley I coached their boys basketball team. I remained as a volunteer coach for the St James boys basketball program for 13 years winning two Diocese of Pittsburgh Championships and numerous section titles. I have been a member of the St. James, Sewickley parish since 1972. I credit the St James parish community for showing me first-hand the importance of helping neighbors, organizing fundraisers for those in need, and giving back to the community.
With my work ethic and leadership skills, honed on the basketball court, in the legal field, and in business, I am committed to ensuring that the hardworking people of Western Pennsylvania get the representation in Washington they deserve.
I reside in Sewickley, Pennsylvania with my husband Tony Sinatra (a veteran) and my parents. My sons are grown and living in other cities right now (with far less impressive sports teams).
