TRUST, INTEGRITY AND HARD WORK.  THESE TRAITS HAVE ALL BEEN DISPLAYED THROUGHOUT ROB’S LIFE.

Since taking office Rob has changed the face of the assessor’s office.

A few short years ago the assessor's office was saddled with the most valuation disputes and appeals in County history. Rob fairly resolved those appeals and today the County enjoys the lowest number of appeals in history.

Rob has instituted process and technology that allows employees to be more efficient with their work and in the process has returned over three million dollars back to the County General Fund saving that valuable taxpayer money.

Under Rob's leadership the Rutherford County Assessor's Office was awardedd three consecutive Three Star Awards as well as The Excellence in Administration Award from the Tennessee Association of Assessing Officers. Which is a first in county history!

“Rob always pushes the envelop on innovation and transparency. Rob Mitchell's leadership has upgraded the Tax Assessor's office to become the first in Tennessee to use hybrid vehicles in their fleet. Rob's office works with 20% fewer employees doing 30% more than they did a decade ago. To date Rob's team have realized operational economic savings of over two million dollars which have all been returned to the county General Fund. Rob even authored an article regarding his initiative to study of the budgets of all 95 Tennessee counties, and then proposed a model for properly funding assessor's offices statewide. This article won the International Association of Assessing Officers John C. Donehoo Award in 2017 as best article published. We need to share this news with our neighbors and keep Rob Mitchell on board as our Tax Assessor in Rutherford County.”
