My name is Timothy Yates and I am running in 2018 for Justice of the Peace in Garland County's 10th district. If elected, I will represent the 10th district on the quorum court, the legislative body that sets the budget and makes decisions on how tax dollars are spent. I care about our community and want to make sure that voices are heard. I am devoted to ensuring your hard earned money is used efficiently and fairly.

Jobs

Growing up in Garland County, I have heard several people say that to be successful you have to “get out of town.” Garland County has so much to offer such as a vast amount of culture and recreational activities to provide jobs to all individuals. While there are some businesses that capitalize on our towns and citizens, there are some great businesses that are making Garland County a workplace with competitive pay. I worked for a family where the husband and wife both began as educators. They had doubts that Hot Springs was not the right place for a business, but they have proved that with hard work, a business can grow and offer more jobs to better Garland County. This example is just to show that too often we are ready to get out of town, when the potential to make a great life here in Garland County is just as easy as in Oklahoma City, Nashville (Tennessee) or even Little Rock.
We now have surrounding colleges that produce educated young people that are  eager to use their degree and Garland County has a place for them to live, work, and thrive. We have seven high schools and multiple businesses that need people with education and college experience. I know there seems to be a sense of pride and accomplishment for growing up and living away, but it is okay to stay in the town you grew up in and be successful. It happens all the time, and I truly believe that Garland County is full of opportunity and potential.
Stay here, invest in our hometown, and make Garland County a great place to live.
