Recently in Russellville, Arkansas, my neighbor’s food bank pick-up reminder post card was delivered to my mailbox by accident. My neighbors are not able to provide enough food to feed their families. This is unacceptable.

I know people who make too little to support themselves and their families, but make too much to qualify for Medicaid. Families must literally choose between life and death without enough resources to survive. This is unacceptable.

This past year, state legislators attempted to cut funding for Arkansas Tech University’s department of diversity and inclusion over a safe sex education event for adults and other events hosted by the department’s LGBTQ organization and other underrepresented populations. This is unacceptable.

This past April, I asked my Congressional Representative if he believes it is right or wrong for the federal government and corporations to profit off our education with student loan interest, and if he would propose or support new legislation to provide relief for us, and to prevent student loan debt for future generations of Arkansans and all Americans. He shamed me for using student loans to fund my education. This is unacceptable.

As human beings on Earth, as Americans, as Arkansans, as residents of Arkansas State Senate District 16, we all do better when WE ALL DO BETTER.

Our political system is broken. Too many of our representatives serve to protect special interests, not people and our environment.

Enough is enough. I plan to run for Arkansas State Senate District 16 to listen to ALL constituents, care about their concerns, identify what’s right and what’s wrong, and be an advocate for our community and environment.

Your support to start our campaign is greatly appreciated! I am excited to work together with you for the progress we deserve.

Thank you

Yesterday, I completed my fourth quarter financial report to the Arkansas Secretary of State. I was overwhelmed with gratitude as I hand-entered over 100 contributions from friends, family members, folks in Arkansas Senate District 16 and around the state that I have yet to meet (I hope to meet you all soon!). Friends from high school, college, former colleagues, book clubs, Phish, and Bernie 2016. Engineers, teachers, artists, healthcare providers, students, scientists, food & beverage, librarians, farmers, small business owners, a female craft beer brewer, and more. From Arkansas, Virginia, Utah, New York, Washington, DC, Tennessee, California, Illinois, Georgia, and South Carolina, and more. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for believing in me. I know a lot of people are counting on me. Please consider a contribution in the month of January, or set up a recurring monthly donation. May 22 will be here soon! We need to get the word out. Your contribution matters.

It's Official!

Yesterday, I filed as the Democratic candidate for Arkansas Senate District 16 special election. This would not have been possible without you and your generous donation. To quote my hero, Senator Sanders, "This campaign is not about me, it is about all of us. When we come together, there is nothing we can't accomplish!"

It’s happening!

Hi friends! Thank you for your support. We are so close to reaching our goal!

A few updates:

  • Yesterday, I opened a campaign checking account and P.O. Box.
  • I’m working with a talented team on professional photos, building a website and graphic design.
  • As soon as we raise enough funds, I will purchase voter data so we can start phone banking and canvassing to get the word out.
  • The deadline to file at the Arkansas Secretary of State office is Wednesday, December 13 at 12:00 pm CST.
  • I plan to file on Tuesday, December 12.

This is really happening!

Please expect for your cards to be charged on Friday, December 8.

Your support is greatly appreciated. You are changing American democracy! We are all in this together.
