Blake is a reasonable, rational, responsible republican who believes passionately in the future of Arizona and the need to invest responsibly in that future, especially in education and economic development.
Blake brings an extensive background to public office. He was a senior executive with Intel Corporation, engaged in an encore career with Science Foundation Arizona, went back to school to get his master’s degree in education, and currently teaches chemistry for Grand Canyon University. He works effectively with people from all perspectives to find agreement and get things done. Arizona needs state leaders that embrace the responsibility for our future.
Blake attended public school and worked to pay his own way through state university. He served on the Gilbert School Board and understands high quality education requires excellent teachers. Arizona has an education crisis. In the last decade, teacher pay in Arizona has fallen from 27th to 51st in the nation and 40% of teachers leave the profession in the first four years. 50% of teaching positions in Arizona are vacant or filled by an individual not meeting standard teaching requirements, and our teacher preparation programs are failing to meet future demand. We must take action to ensure a quality education for our children.
Quality jobs are key to our future and these jobs require infrastructure. Lettuce doesn’t move from Yuma to Phoenix without highway maintenance, and people can’t commute to work from Queen Creek if the population growth continues to far outpace road construction.
Blake has worked effectively to balance budgets in his personal life, with a large corporation and a small non-profit. He understands that we must live within our means while preparing for the future. This will require the hard work, attention to detail, creativity and the ability to get things done at which Blake excels.
Blake and his wife Cindy have lived in Gilbert for more than 25 years. They have two grown children – Katie and Andrew. They are active volunteers in the community and committed to the future of Arizona.
Please help Blake put his strong background, passion for Arizona and commitment to our future to work in the Arizona state legislature.
