I am a Chester County mother of two who is tired of seeing education, healthcare, and the environment under-prioritized by our state legislature. Meanwhile, the gas & oil lobbies line the halls of the chambers of Harrisburg peddling money and influence, and our elected officials consistently choose corporate profits over public health, public safety, and the preservation of our natural resources.
This is why I am launching a 2018 campaign to become Pennsylvania’s State Representative for the 155th District.
Moved by her desire to advocate for her community and stand up to the lobbyists in Harrisburg who work to take our voice away, in January of 2018 Danielle declared her candidacy for Pennsylvania’s 155th Legislative District.
Danielle will serve as an advocate for hardworking families, children and senior citizens who are being squeezed by the rising cost of property taxes, healthcare, and childcare. She will work for strong public schools, workforce development, and family-sustaining jobs.
Danielle will fight for families’ and the public’s interest vs. the special interest of big money lobbyists. She took the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge. She will speak out against special interest policy and speak up for the people of District 155.
Danielle will fight for equitable, thorough and efficient funding for public education. Property owners and local government should not continue to foot the bill for Harrisburg’s new trend of shortchanging public education.

Building on Momentum - Danielle Friel Otten is Ready to Flip the 155th
Exton, PA - On March 6th, 2018 Danielle Friel Otten officially filed more than double the 300 signatures needed to qualify to run in the Spring 2018 Democratic Primary election for State Representative in District 155 with the PA Department of State. Danielle was also endorsed by the Chester County Democratic Committee at their nominating convention on February 20th, 2018.
Otten spent weeks leading up to this important filing deadline personally knocking on over 1000 doors across the 155th District. 30 volunteers worked alongside her reaching out to neighbors and friends within the East Brandywine, West Brandywine, Uwchlan, Upper Uwchlan West Vincent, East Pikeland, Spring City and the North Ward of Phoenixville, resulting in signatures from every single township in the district.
Otten spoke across the district with groups like Chester County Lawyers for Progress, Way Forward, and several Democratic groups and committees. She told the story of how her grassroots organizing work through the Uwchlan Safety Coalition and Del-Chesco United for Pipeline Safety brought her to this point, but that what she learned about how special interests and lobbyists are influencing and obstructing our government being WHY she decided to run. She talked about how gas and oil lobbyists and organizations like NRA are affecting everything from policy and funding in schools to the safety of the homes and communities where we live, work and play.
Otten says “As I have become more civically engaged over the years, I have learned about how so much of our current government is keeping people out of the conversation, hiding behind the veil of powerlessness and that lobbyists money is how things get done. I believe that is a cop-out. Brave leaders speak up, speak out and stand alongside their constituents. We need brave, thoughtful leaders in Harrisburg to bring progress and accountability to Pennsylvania.”
As the Danielle for PA Campaign forges ahead toward the Primary this spring, Otten’s team is looking forward to building on the momentum of the 2017 County and Municipal Elections that resulted in historic wins in Uwchlan Township and Chester County. Statistics in Danielle’s home zone trend even higher than the overall county wins, having much to do with strong grassroots community support led by Otten’s supporters.
