We all know what is broken in our political system.  We all know it has to be fixed or things will continue to deteriorate.  The real question is who is going to fix it and how will they succeed?   The fix will not come from the major parties.  They like things just the way they are.  If change is to come it must come from the rest of us.  We must make a new party whose purpose is to fix the problems in our system and to represent all Americans.  This purpose must be baked into this party from its creation.

To complete the design for this perfect political party, you would make it fit the needs of the average American.  It would not be extreme.  It would not be for sale to special interests.  It would be inclusive and respectful of everyone.   It would use reason rather than ideology to solve problems.  It would find the best solutions to these problems and work to enact them immediately.  It would draw from American history the spirit of character, civility, humility, compromise, and integrity from a political party that counted Presidents Harrison, Tyler, Taylor, and Fillmore, and Senators Clay and Webster.

The good news is there is a party designed from the ground up to have all of these features.  It has been around long enough to learn how to be your party, but not long enough to get very big yet.  This is where you and our strategy for success come into play.

Success will not come from great ideas and well intentioned promises alone.  We realize that anyone can put together a list of things to say that sounds great but never gets done.  Politicians have been doing that for centuries.  We can’t just say nice things we have to prove we mean what we say.  We have to demonstrate who we are and act on those promises, otherwise we are just like everyone else.  We have to start with a little trust from you and do well with it so we get a few more donations, get a few more volunteers, earn a little more trust from you, and do well with that too.

This is the start of that process.  There is a long way to go but we only ask for a little this first time; just enough to get the ball rolling.  Please review our website at www.modernwhig.org.  Read about us, our principles, our values, and our platform.  If you like what you see and think we have what it takes to grow and solve the problems facing American politics, trust us a little.  Donate a little.  Tell others about us.  We will stay in touch and let you know when we are ready and need your help for the next step.  If you have questions, ask me at chair@modernwhig.org.  Thank you for your trust.  We will be sure to earn it.

“Because I have found that usually, the truth lies in the middle.”

  • Lang Waters endorsed

“Our country needs a sane center, both sides are off the rails and dominating the conversation with irrationality. I love everything the Modern Whigs stand for. I'm a centrist that leans left. I love talking to people that I don't necessarily always agree with, and I believe that our country is about getting along even if we don't agree.”

  • Marc Moore endorsed

“I support Giving Centrists a Choice: Support The Modern Whig Party because this is easily the only party I've found that actually seems to be taking a true common sense approach to the issues with the goal of practical solutions to help people further. I want the Modern Whigs to become a viable option in future elections.”

  • Thomas M McMillen endorsed

“I support giving Centrists a choice: Support the Modern Whig Party because for too long, the two major parties are providing candidates who do not represent the interests of the majority of the citizens of our country. We can and must do better.”

  • Laurence J Kotlikoff endorsed

“Rational, reasonable, responsible, respectful, righteous and resourceful Americans need to take back our great country from the political extremists before its too late for ourselves and our children. The Modern Whig Party is the new, third party we've been waiting for. Let's make it happen!”

  • Philip A Whitaker Jr endorsed

“I am in the middle but lean to the right. We need inclusive voting system (access & balots), logical solutions, and. working together.”

  • Robert Aitch endorsed

“As a true independent moderate, I need a party in between the Democrats and the guys that had torches in Charleston that is somehow not just being a Republican”

  • James Sorbet endorsed

“The governments primary objective is to grow and care for itself. I’d like to reduce its size and reduce the tax burden on the American middle class. Also, I’d like to see the govt out of the way and let companies provide goods and services without the inefficiency of govt built into the cost.”

  • Larry Stanley endorsed

“I endorse this effort because we need an ethical pragmatic choice. Independents are great, but for an organized centrists effort that can effect change, it must be done as a political party.”
