I'm a Texan and a small business owner, who lives and works in Comal county. Even though this is a semi-rural area of South Central Texas, I recognize the county is changing, yet I hold a deep respect for the traditions and history of this special place in Texas Hill Country. I want to work to strengthen the community, and help to create common sense policies. I consider the Office of County Clerk as the front door to our community; a place that touches all our lives here in Comal County.  I'll work hard to ensure the County Clerk's office is a welcoming, active and vibrant resource for ALL our citizens.

9/11: 6 Weeks to Early Voting – Quick Update from Gloria for Comal County Clerk

While I’ll not forget the events seventeen years ago today that changed our lives and the course of our nation forever, in a few short weeks, we have an opportunity to affect a great change, yet in a very positive, progressive way to save our democracy.  With only 6 weeks until Early Voting starts here in Texas, I am sharing a quick update...

First, a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone for your kind donations to my campaign. I've just ordered MORE literature (already went through 2,000 pieces), and have a brand-new batch of yard signs, postcards, and campaign buttons ready to hit the streets!

Secondly, while many of us are out there every day registering new voters, canvassing, phone-calling, writing postcards; you know what REALLY works?  When we're all engaged in something to promote our civic responsibility to America by ensuring we all get to the polls and vote.  This is the best part of who we are as a nation: we ALL can participate in our democratic process.  Whether it's talking to neighbors about important issues or calling complete strangers to ask for their support of a Democratic candidate, we all have a role - and the opportunity - to make a difference.

And finally, I hope you'll continue to engage in our community. In fact, please join us on September 23rd to meet some of your Comal County Candidates for a Day of Action in Canyon Lake to Get-Out-the-Vote!   If you'd like to help fund the Event, your donation is much appreciated.   Let's have some fun...and elect some Democrats!

50 homes, 5 weeks…UPDATE from Gloria for Comal County Clerk

We’re just under 100 days until Election day, November 6, 2018.  Early voting in Texas starts, October 22nd.  PLEASE MAKE A PLAN to vote, take 10 people – or as many as you can – to the polls.  This IS an historic voting cycle that will likely decide the direction of our country for generations to come. And YOU are part of making our representative democracy work!  What will you do now and up to election day to Get Out the Vote (GOTV) and get folks to WANT to go to the polls and vote for Texas Democrats?

Here’s what I’m doing:  visiting 50 homes in 5 weeks.  That’s 10 homes a week.  I’m knocking on doors in every precinct here in Comal County to share the good news about all the Democrats who are running in Texas!  Yes, we FINALLY have choices, but Democratic Candidate name recognition and getting ALL Democrats to the polls to vote is our real challenge.

There are many ways to engage registered voters: ask your precinct chair about how you can help visit homes, talk with folks, and plan for November’s election.

Here’s a list of all the hard-working Democrats we in Comal County can vote for in 2018.  I know you want to help them win!  Please feel free to forward or print out and share this list – or stop by the Comal County Democratic Party Headquarters and pick up copies and other information about how you can help Democrats win in 2018.

Vote + 10. Quick update from Gloria for Comal County Clerk

Hi, y’all.   ‘Just back from the Texas Democratic Party (TDP) Convention in Fort Worth, Texas, I was elected by our Senate District 25 (SD25) delegates to serve as SD25 Platform Committee Representative. It was such an honor to serve on this important committee along with 30 other elected representatives and Platform Committee Chair, Texas House Representative, Celia Israel (HD50).  I’m happy to say the TDP Platform passed.  And at the top of the Platform, front-and-center, is Criminal Justice Reform.  If you have a few minutes, please take a look; here’s a link to the TDP Platform, one that truly represents Texans’ progressive values. The Platform preamble exemplifies these values: “Texas Democrats believe government exists to achieve together what we cannot achieve as individuals and that government must serve all people. A representative democracy is only truly representative if every single citizen is guaranteed the inalienable right to vote in fair and open elections.” Yes, we ALL have a right, civic duty and responsibility to vote to be truly accountable for our representative democracy.

And the mantra I heard everywhere at the TDP Convention:  Vote + 10.

Now more than ever, Democrats know that it will take more than powerful speeches, registering voters, canvassing, and fundraising to translate to real votes those folks who say, “Yes, I’m voting Democratic.”  While your monetary contributions to my campaign are so very much appreciated, have gone to good use, and have put me towards the top of my campaign fundraising goal, our real challenge now is to ensure Democrats get to the polls and vote.

Because it’s not always about money; here’s the ask:  Vote + 10.  Vote…and bring ten (10) Democrats with you to the polls.   Early voting in Texas begins October 22nd.  Talk to your neighbors and friends and plan for November’s election.  Speak with your precinct chair about working together to plan something fun like a breakfast “party”, lunch, or happy hour to organize your group of friends around this important election...then go vote…TOGETHER.  Yes, there IS power in numbers.  And when large groups of Democrats show up to vote; WE WIN!

Vote + 10.  As of today, we have 127 days to make a difference.

I’m counting on you, and yes, everything does count.

Texas: May Run-Off; Early Vote NOW!

Texas, we’re on the cusp of something great; we’re on track to heal this country, eradicate the divide, and move forward.  Although I can always use your support and investment in my campaign, this message isn’t about that. This is a call to action, something we can all do together to have our voices heard loud and clear:  VOTE.

Thousands and thousands of folks are showing up at the polls to vote for a better, progressive future.  Talk to your neighbors, friends, the gal or guy who helps you at the local grocery store/gas station/coffee shop.  Set an example and encourage and inspire others to vote.

As a Democrat running for office here in Comal County, I’m honored to be on a ticket with other future-focused progressives who want to unite our community.   But we can’t do it without you; we need your vote now in the May run-off and in November for the general election.

This week in Texas, through May 18th, you can “early vote” for the primary run-off elections.  May 22nd is the last day to vote in the primary run-off.  If you haven’t already voted, please make your plan to vote – and ask others to go with you. Here’s a great tool to learn everything you need to vote.

Voting:  it’s a great habit to get into!
