My roots in this area run deep. I spent most of my childhood in Sandy. My wife and I moved to Midvale while I was in in law school, and we have been there for almost eight years.  And just over five years ago I got a job working as an Assistant City Prosecutor with Murray City. I know this area well. It has been a wonderful place to both grow up and to raise my own family. However, I know that it can be better, and I want to help it achieve its potential.

My two main focuses legislatively are a result of my life experiences, which are public safety and education. I have worked at both a high school and college level, and greatly enjoyed my experiences in both of them. More importantly though, my wife is a high school counselor, continuing what could be considered a family tradition of having a school counselor in each generation. My grandma and my mom have both worked as school counselors as well. Through their experiences, I have seen the great need for more state support for education. And I want to make that one of my main focuses.

As I mentioned above, I have been working as a prosecutor for just over five years. Before that I worked at a local non-profit that helped represent victims of crime. I have had experiences in the criminal justice system everywhere from justice court to federal court. The criminal justice system not only affects the defendants and the victims, but it touches all communities as well. Because of that, I want to focus on this area to help keep our communities safe and healthy.

I believe that having safe communities with well-educated residents will help us reach our potential.
