Christa Caceres is a community leader, proud Democrat, wife, stepmom and Little League Mom who will bring Pennsylvania forward and unseat the Republican incumbent who rode in on the Tea Party wave in 2010.
If elected, she will become the first African-American woman to serve as State Representative in the 189th District.
Bringing issues like heroin and opioid addiction and the #MeToo movement to the forefront here in the Poconos in 2017 was just the beginning for Christa. As a survivor of childhood molestation and domestic violence in her home, she will relentlessly fight for and create or strengthen existing laws to protect our children.
Health insurance is a right, and our laws should reflect that.
As State Representative, she wants to ensure her neighbors have a respectable living wage, increased funding for education and will fight cuts to Medicaid that provide almost 80% of funding for drug rehabilitation facilities here. Pennsylvania ranks 6th in the nation for drug overdoses and 45th for school funding. This cannot stand.
Christa is a passionate fighter who will stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. She can build the relationships on the other side of the aisle needed for change in Harrisburg. Many residents in the 189th District work two and three part-time jobs to stay afloat and miss out on important family milestones. Given the recent tax bill passed in Congress and the removal of the ACA mandate, things will go from bad to worse here for the middle and working class in Pennsylvania.
It’s time for a change in the 189th District, and “Our Time Is Now”.
When elected, her very first goal is to support the first increase in Pennsylvania’s minimum wage since 2009 to $12 with built-in increase triggers that will give hard working adults across the state a chance to dream big again.
Unemployment has risen in Monroe and Pike County, exceeding the state's numbers. Let's take full advantage of the Keystone Opportunity Zone and help get our neighbors back to work with quality jobs and living wages.
Our LGBTQ community have no law in PA to protect them from discrimination based upon who they are or who they choose to love. She will draft or support any existing legislation that bans discrimination of sexual or gender identity in employment, housing and public accommodations.
Our property taxes are astronomical in Monroe and Pike County, yet many corporations in Pennsylvania can avoid paying their fair share of taxes. That will change with Christa's support for closing the Delaware Loophole.
Let’s give Christa a fighting chance to bring Pennsylvania forward and send a loud message to Harrisburg's Republican leadership in 2018!
