In 2016, there was over $3 million donated from PACs to candidates in the general election for state legislative offices.  There were over 220 PACs helping candidates win their contests.

Each of the PACs wants to associate their campaign contribution with their issue.  This is the same for the Iowa Trails & Bike PAC.  We pool your campaign donations, give them to candidates who support trails and bike policy.  The pooled campaign donations help them get elected to office.  Unlike a donation directly from you, we send the candidate a letter with the contribution telling them this contribution comes from trails & bike supporters.

Believe or not, 54% PACs who contributed to current incumbent candidates operate on a budget between $1,000 and $10,000.  If Iowa Trails & Bike PAC can raise enough money to make 5 to 15 contributions to candidates, averaging $500 each, then we will be noticed.

This starts with you.  Your investment of $3, $10, $100, or more will tell legislators that you support trails & bike policy and they should too.

NOW IS THE TIME to take action.  Click the button below and make any size of a campaign contribution for Iowa Trails & Bikes.

Please note contributions should be from individuals: Iowa PACs may not solicit or receive from an insurance company, savings and loan association, bank, credit union, or corporation any money, property, or thing of value belonging to any such entity for purposes of advocating for or against candidates (68A.503).

Protect Trail Funding in Iowa

Iowans voted nine years ago to create the Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund. Now legislators are trying to change the formula and take money away from future trail projects. We need your voice to protect and enhance our trails in Iowa.

We are hearing that some legislators are working to change the allocation formula for the Trust Fund, which was in place when Iowans passed the constitutional amendment in 2010 to create it. In particular danger is the 10 percent currently allocated to trails.

As you know, trails are vital to the public health, economic development and scenic beauty of our communities. Legislators need to hear from Iowans that want MORE investment in our trails system, not less.

Please feel free to personalize your letter. Tell your legislators about a trail that you love to use, or a future trail project you would love to see.

Please donate to the Iowa Trails & Bike PAC.  Together, we can show that Iowans value safe, scenic, accessible places for outdoor recreation. We can show them that Iowans love trails.
