I grew up on the Front Range and I am proud to call Senate District 30 my home. We have a lot to be proud of as Coloradans – not just our beautiful parks, rivers, and mountains but also our forward-looking spirit.

I love Colorado. My life is here. My wife and I have chosen to raise our daughter here because we both grew up here, so we know what a special place this is.

During my childhood I learned the value of hard work: I mowed lawns, shoveled snow, and worked in restaurants to save money for college. I left Colorado to study economics at the University of Chicago, where I had the opportunity to learn from some of the brightest minds in the field. My parents were not in a position to help pay for my education, so I put myself through college in just three years to conserve cash. After graduating, I worked for a few years at Price Waterhouse, then returned to the University of Chicago to earn a Masters in Business Administration in 2003.

I have spent my professional career helping companies in crisis. As a business strategist focused on the travel and transportation sectors, I advise large and medium sized companies on a wide range of matters, including which markets to enter, how to improve products and services, and what long-term strategies to adopt. I coach corporate leaders through difficult times, and I have helped several companies affect painful but necessary turn-arounds that allowed them to recover from bankruptcy, cut costs, and ultimately stay in business. My job, in short, has been managing crises of one form or another, a skill set that is sorely lacking but so desperately needed in the Colorado State Senate.

Although the team I joined out of college has seen many changes, including several mergers and acquisitions, I remain committed to the group that hired me 18 years ago. My commitment and hard work has paid off -- I am regarded as one of the preeminent thinkers in the travel and transportation industries. Now, I spend time thinking and writing about the industries I serve, and I am frequently invited to speak to national and international audiences on cutting-edge topics in my field.

Most important, I count myself deeply fortunate to have met and fallen in love with Cori, my wife, so early in life. Cori and I have been together for over 25 years, and we are delighted to demonstrate the importance and value of public service to Ruby, our 5-year-old daughter.
