David began an early career in government after graduating from Madison Southern High School in 2001. Despite offers from other institutions of higher education, David enrolled at Eastern Kentucky University in the Political Science program and volunteered as a precinct worker for the Madison County Clerk's Office.   He earned his degree in 2005, and at that point he had a fair share of knowledge to enter into the world of politics and government. He has since used that knowledge to hone his professional skills in government to prepare him for a Richmond City Commission candidacy.  During his college years, David did a internship through EKU for the City of Berea's City Administrator's office.  David learned firsthand about the role and functions of a city administrator/city manager form of government.

David’s volunteerism can be seen in many more examples over the years. When Jerry Combs, former Madison County Sherriff, passed away, Madison County residents were stricken with grief and despair. David worked hand-in-hand with Madison County State Representatives to rename the KY 1016 Highway after Jerry Combs to reflect Combs’s legacy in law enforcement. Not only did this act of kindness lift the spirits of the entire community, but it showed David’s compassion and commitment to Madison County as a whole.  David has shown that he can work with Democrats and Republicans and proven to get the job done.

David is committed to being a fighter for those who support his work. His actions have already begun to benefit the citizens of Richmond. Over the years, David has volunteered his time to work on the City of Richmond Human Rights Commission. This position is appointed and approved by the Mayor and current board of city commissioners.  During his tenure, he has handled complaints that deal with serious issues such as discrimination in workplace environments, housing, and disability.  In addition, David has volunteered for Active Day Adult Day Care Center on the Eastern Bypass and delivered meals for Home Meals Delivery, Inc.

David is a stellar example of a citizen that has paid his dues to be elected to a public office. He has not only proved his dedication to ensuring the better good for the community, but he also shown the power of volunteerism and collaboration to make things happen in this great city we all call home.  David is dedicated to a transparent government and a government for all the people of Richmond and not just a few.  David knows what it takes to work as a team and get things accomplished for the community.  On November 6, let's elect David for City Commissioner and together we can make a difference!  I am number 5 on the ballot and I ask for your support, consideration, and prayers!
