Irvine veterans, along with our families, friends and neighbors organized this campaign after our local city council — backed by a multi-billion-dollar developer — placed a measure on the June 5th ballot that will scrap years of planning to build a Veterans Cemetery in Orange County's Great Park by handing the property over to developers and rezoning the site for massive commercial projects.
This outrageous ballot measure (Irvine Measure B) would push the Veterans Cemetery out of the serene Great Park, moving it next to the I-5/I-405 Interchange, one of the busiest, most congested and polluted stretches of freeway in the nation. Such a relocation would be a slap in the face to every veteran in Orange County!
The developer has already launched a multi-million dollar campaign flooding mailboxes with professionally designed "patriotic" flyers filled with outright lies in an attempt to deceive voters so they can bully their way into the Great Park by pushing the Veterans Cemetery out!
This truly is a David vs Goliath fight!
We don’t have to match the developer dollar-for-dollar but with your help, we can build something they can't buy — a true grassroots movement — one that is willing to fight back against the control developers have in our city.
