I am the mother of the adorable toddler in the photo.  She deserves a good education and a chance for a good job and I plan to make sure she gets it.

Lately school systems have been plagued by a long stream of politicians who all think they know what will fix our schools.  They implement one top-down solution after another and schedule an in-service day to tell teachers what the new plan is.  They say "If you will only do this or take this test or use this new doo-dad, then all our problems will be over."  Too seldom does any politician go around and ask teachers "What do you need?  How can the legislature help?"  What we need is a politician who is willing to do the legwork of going around to teachers and parents and gathering feedback and then creating a bottom-up solution that fits the problems that teachers face every day.  I believe that if I put in that work then my daughter will be able to get a good public education just like I did.

Imagine that you are a business owner thinking about where to place your new factory or business headquarters.  I believe that one of the things you would think about is "Where do I want to live?"  People want to start businesses in good communities.  They want a good police force and courts to protect their business and good roads to take customers to and from their business.  They want good schools to educate employees.  They want nice community meeting places like libraries and parks and churches.  I believe that if you build a community with solid government services and good people then businesses will come.  I believe that this is the way I can make sure my daughter will have good job opportunities when she grows up.
