I am Nancy Carlton Bendinger, and I'm running for Alabama Senate District 27. I grew up in Alexander City, and after graduating from Auburn University, I never left. I am a wife, mother, community volunteer, real estate agent, and lifelong resident of District 27.

This district is rich with assets—hardworking people, some of the top-ranked school systems in the state, vital community colleges, outstanding recreational opportunities, and, of course, Auburn University. But each community and neighborhood in our area have their own distinct struggles and needs.  Recognizing what differs is key to creating & increasing prosperity throughout the district.  Some parts of the district are growing fast and unemployment is low, while others work to return to past prosperity. Every part of this district deserves to prosper—every neighborhood and community. A zip code, city limit, or county line should not be a limit on opportunity or on the very best for all of our children.

We cannot accept the status quo in the Montgomery statehouse any longer. Career  politicians have been allowed to bow down to the pressure of special interests with little regard for needs of their constituents. The cycle of corruption and crisis  has plagued our state for too long. We can no longer sit idly and allow it to continue. We must break this cycle and give all of the citizens of AL SD 27 the potential to achieve their greatest potential.

Alabama can flourish under new leadership.  It’s time to ask:  if not now, then when?

In 2018, East Alabamians can choose another path and elect representatives who will work to create opportunity for all.  But I need your help. Please contribute to my campaign so that I can be a voice for all who call AL SD 27 home.

“We in Alabama are last in the country in all "quality of life" categories that impact us every day and raise red flags and road blocks for any industry looking to locate here. We are at the bottom nationwide in Health Care, Prenatal Care, Infant Mortality, Rural Hospitals, War on Drugs, Opioid Addiction, Education, Criminal Justice-Prisons, Mental Health, Environment, Clean Water and many others. Our state is constantly in Federal Law Suits because we don't even meet the minimum standards mandated by Federal Law. This is not us vs them, this is about our "quality of life" that our state leaders don't care about. We send the same people back to Montgomery expecting them to change things. Albert Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting the same result. If you want a Lottery don't send the same people back. If you want Alabama to rise from the bottom in every "quality of life" category then don't send the same people back to Montgomery. Why can't we have representatives in Montgomery that are beholding to the people and not special interest who fund their campaigns to make it look like they are great and doing a good job. Look at the facts not the emotional issues they want you to see thus taking your mind off the real truth. I believe Nancy will go to Montgomery beholding to no one except the people. I believe she will go to Montgomery and address issues that are important to our "quality of life". That's why I support Nancy for Alabama Senate District 27.”

“We need legislators who will remove tax from groceries and prescriptions, and who are not obligated to pay day lenders. We need Nancy because she believes education for all children is vital to help Alabama realize her potential. She will work to repeal the present education act and pass one which uses education money fairly for all children. Nancy believes teachers should be fairly compensated and have the necessary equipment to perform as they have been trained to do. Expanding Medicaid should have already been done to keep hospitals open, provide more jobs and allow all Alabamians to have adequate health care. Mental health funding should be increased so that additional counselors can be available in schools and health centers. These are just a few of the things Nancy Bendinger knows are important and she will work her hardest to achieve with your help.”

“I believe Nancy can help us improve our states environment by supporting the adoption of a state water plan that will protect our most precious natural resource. Clean water is the basis of life and our state is fortunate to have an abundance of it...but we have to be good stewards of it or it so that current and future generations can enjoy it. I also believe she would represent the people of our district better than the current Senator.”

“Because we need a change from our current despicable senator who was arrested for domestic violence, among other things in his past.”

  • endorsed

“Nancy is a tireless advocate, mother, business leader, and friend. She takes every phone call, examines every side an issue before making a decision, and is not afraid to choose principle over party. Nancy will not abuse her position or use it for personal gain. She will work for us. Not herself.”
