Who is Victoria Mitchner?

Victoria Mitchner is a Florida native, born in the lovely City of Rockledge. A loving mother and United States Army veteran serving fourteen years honorably for our country. She is the owner of BRAVO ROMEO, a human resources consulting firm for veterans. Victoria is the current chair for  Economic Development and Labor & Industry committees, a member of the Society of Human Resources (SHRM) and the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW). She has spent the last three years dedicating herself to public service on the local level. With an undergraduate in Legal Studies from Kaplan University and is currently enrolled in a MBA program. In addition to being a mom and business owner, she has championed local efforts in District 2 and throughout Brevard County, advocating for economic empowerment while implementing efforts to promote growth of business ownership within various communities.

Victoria's love for nature comes by way of growing up in Sharpes/Canaveral Groves with knowledge of indigenous wildlife, plants and nearby waterways. Vickey loves gardening with her children and making crafts in her spare time. The daughter of a brick mason construction worker and a janitor, both of her parents are hard-working, labor workers. Those same labor workers taught her family values and to always be kind and help anyone in need. Her favorite quote is “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”.

District 2, meet Vickey!

THE STANCE

The next 10 years are critical especially with the current issues with our lagoon, a viable solution is needed. Next is moving the county towards becoming the world’s space industry headquarters; we have Kennedy Space Center sitting in our backyard and is such a huge opportunity that shouldn’t be missed. Economic development would be my third item, the county needs jobs that residents are able to earn a livable wage and support their families, live out the American dream and own their own home.

When elected to the county commission my primary area of interest would be to promote economic development. I understand there are families out here that are facing tough decisions, whether to pay all of their light bill or pay half and buy groceries. I hope to work with small and big business owners and helping them getting residents to work. Currently the new Walmart Distribution Center in Cocoa has about 400 vacant positions and the average starting pay for an entry level position is around $16 hourly. This is the type of business the county needs to help our local residents to earn a livable wage to support their families.

When we have more people in the workplace they are working and paying taxes, which will help fund the lagoon tax clean up efforts. This is something that I’ve explained to many people who are big on environment, I’d love to have our local environmental issue listed first but I understand it takes money to support the clean up.

My other top priorities for citizens in District 2 are:

  • advocate for viable solutions to clean up the lagoon along with proper disposal of dredged lagoon waste

  • champion science partnerships with local public schools to allow students to assist with restoration efforts of the lagoon; teaching children ecological awareness and environmentalism

  • negotiate with large companies prior to them settling within the district to hire a percentage of local residents giving citizens an opportunity at better paying jobs

  • advocate for Brevard County employees who plead at commission meetings for increases that are still subpar

  • provide aid to small businesses within the district while giving tax breaks or waiving fees for a new small business

  • ensure that all roadways regardless of the area you live are safe
