Education is in my DNA. My father was an educator and the former chairman of a school board. Moreover, my husband, son and two daughters are all educators. During my 22 years in public education, I served as a school counselor, the district-level director of an early childhood education program, an assistant principal, and a principal for 8 years before retiring in 2016. The last 15 years of service were right here in Gwinnett County Public Schools System. I currently work as an education consultant and a volunteer teacher at a homeless shelter for women in Gwinnett County.

At an early age, I was taught the importance and power of an education. I faced many challenges growing up during the 1960’s that often impeded my access to a quality education. However, I remained steadfast and never used my circumstances as an excuse. In fact, those challenges stimulated my thirst for knowledge, which propelled me to earn a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.

As a candidate for the school board, I want to be a voice for the entire community and support policies that will ensure ALL children in this county receive a quality education. Our children are our most precious gifts and our country’s greatest asset. As such, every single child – regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, ability, disability, language, or socioeconomic status – deserves to have access to a high-quality education in a safe and secure environment.

Your support is greatly appreciated.

And the journey continues...

To all my friends and family, I want to thank you so much for your support during this incredible journey. I could not have done this without your prayers, donations, phone banking, canvassing, and so much more. But as of right now, the counting is not yet over. Election night showed a deficit of 822 votes for me. After absentee ballots were counted, the deficit was reduced to 175 votes.   So we wait now until all provisional ballots are counted to determine my next move.  So until every single vote is counted- it is not over. When it is, I will let you know.

Again, thank you for your support!

Let's Vote!

When I was 10 years old, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. marched through the streets of the small southern town where I grew up.  His message was, "Marching on Ballot Boxes!"  He stressed then the importance of registering to vote; but after that to "VOTE!"  That message is just as relevant today as it was over 50 years ago.  We must march ourselves to the polls and vote.  That is how change is made.

As we draw closer to November 6 (election day), I am reminded why I entered this race in the first place.  It is all about the children and their education.  As a lifelong educator, serving on the Gwinnett Board of Edcation would provide me the opportunity to continue to support public education and educators.  To maintain a strong school system, we must ensure that we are serving the needs of ALL children.  That is why I am running.

So please, continue to support my efforts with donations, yard signs, phone canvassing, knocking doors, and simply getting the word out!  I appreciate all of you so very much!

Our journey!

My friends, the time is almost here - election day!  I must admit, this has been an incredible journey; unlike any I've ever experienced before.  It has been challenging, informative, and exciting.  It has been a tremendous amount of work; but our children are always worth fighting for.

However, the fight is not over and I really need your support to continue this campaign.  To ensure I can reach my goal to get through the finish line, please consider donating whatever you can.  There are more signs, printing, mailers, push cards, calls, and canvassing that must be continued until November 6 - election day!

To become the voice for our students, teachers, parents, and communty, I need your #Support.  I need your #VOTE!

The journey is just beginning.

Keeping the momentum going!

Thank you all for supporting me during the primary campaign. I could not have won without you!  Most of the funds raised prior to the primary was used to help me successfully defeat my opponent. Now that I am the Democratic nominee for the Gwinnett County school board in District 2, I will continue to need your support to win against my Republican opponent in the general elections on November 6.  So, please, consider donating whatever you can to ensure that I will be able to run a strong campaign.  I need your support now more than ever if we intend to be successful.  Let’s take this all the way. #nowisthetime #wandy4schoolboard #gwinnettcountyschools #novemberelections

We did it!!!

Thank you all for your tremendous support of my campaign. You helped me to meet this first major goal of winning the primary election. Now is the time to take it all the way - a win in the general election in November. So,  I will continue to need your support to reach the final destination of becoming a member of the school board in Gwinnett County.  There is a chance to make history and I hope you will help me accomplish it.

Again, thank you!  Let’s keep up the momentum!
