Dear Friend,

The lingering question that is always hanging around in the mind waiting to be asked by some individual is, “Can I make a difference?” Well, the answer to that question is very simple: “Get in the fight and see!”

Hello, my name is Darren Joiner and I am assembling an Exploratory Committee to research a possible run for the Republican United States Senate seat in 2020. I am an active member of my community in Rutherford County, North Carolina, serving its children as an employee of the public schools for the last decade. I have a great love for this country, for which I am proud to have served in the U.S. Army during Operation Urgent Fury during the invasion of Grenada in 1983. I am very concerned with the partisanship of those who are now a part of the political spectrum and their inability to come together for the greater good of the nation. This divisiveness and hatred that is slowly permeating throughout this land was not created by the present administration, but has been a festering wound that neither the Democrats or Republicans will allow to heal properly—so that both may use it for their own political gain. This madness must end.  

We can no longer be complacent with the crumbs tossed to us, the American people, as though we are dogs begging at the master’s feet. Therefore, I have decided that talking about change changes absolutely nothing, and that sitting on the sidelines makes me an unwilling, complicit partner in a crime being perpetrated upon the nation. I want to be a voice crying in the wilderness about the injustice that plagues the American landscape. I want to speak for those who are too weak to speak for themselves, and lift up those who have been repeatedly beat down. I want to be the people’s voice in a system that seems to no longer be a self-government of the people, by the people, and for the people.  

However, your participation in this change is needed. My opponent will have the backing of big money donors. I will be looking to those who matter most: the great people of my home state, North Carolina, and those from other states who are tired of the partisanship and divisiveness from Washington. I am asking for your financial support. Will you help me be the first of many who want to turn this nation around and once again make it of, by, and for you—the people?
