My name is Jessica Sutter and I'm running for the DC State Board of Education, Ward 6 seat in the November 6, 2018 general election.

I’ve been working to make education better for kids for nearly 20 years. I taught middle school for seven years, the last few right here in Ward 6. I made grants of public funds to foster innovation in DC public charter schools and ran community meetings in all eight wards to understand what DC families wanted from their schools. For the past five years, I’ve run a consulting business to help schools and education non-profits solve organizational problems and improve educational outcomes for students.

All this work has convinced me that we need better, more equitable educational opportunities for all kids and we need them now. Our kids cannot wait.

All DC children deserve excellent schools and their families deserve quality choices and schools that will best meet their needs. I believe I can help. I understand how important it is to listen to families and educators on the programs and services that will best serve students. We need elected officials who will listen and act to make changes that lead to quality schools and equitable opportunities for all kids.

I know you care about our children and our schools, too. I’d love your support as I run to improve quality, equity and educational options for all of DC's kids.

Off to a strong start...and setting our sights higher!

Dear Supporters,

Thanks to your incredible generosity, my campaign is off to an incredible fundraising start! We set our goal at $10k by June 1 and, with your support, we are 90% of our way to that goal today!

Since I declared my candidacy in March, the incumbent has decided to stand for re-election. To help ensure that I can get my message out to all the voters in Ward 6 and earn their votes, we are increasing our fundraising goal today.

Can you help me reach $15k? Share my campaign with your friends and neighbors. Help me reach people who support equity and excellence in public education. And, if you haven't yet made the maximum contribution of $200, please consider increasing your support today.

Thank you!
