I am a technology executive, attorney and former school board president as well as the chair of Sunnyvale's Housing and Human Services Commission. My experience and proven track record mean I'll get things done when I'm on the Council and I'm not taking money from developers, PACs or corporations--I'll be looking after your interests. A vote for me will be a vote for you!

For far too long, developers, PACs and large corporations have called the tune for the Sunnyvale City Council. I'm working to change that by only accepting individual donations. I'll use your donation to fund my grass-roots campaign with things like flyers, yard signs and mailers.

Once I'm elected  I'll work to ensure a good quality of life in Sunnyvale by mandating:

  • All new projects over 10 units have 25% affordable housing
  • Stop airplane noise dumping on Sunnyvale
  • We protect our parks, golf courses and civic center
  • Limit hyper-growth
  • Local Campaign Finance Reform
  • We have rent stabilization for the mobile home parks in our city

Together, we can change Sunnyvale for the better.

“I have lived in Sunnyvale on and off for 46 years. I have lived in a mobile home park for the last 24. I don't like what has been going on the last few years with mobile homes in Sunnyvale, where 2 parks have closed and another Park was purchased by a Predatory Wall Street Investor. Who came in and skyrocketed the rent way above the local market value. This caused a chain reaction where a nearby Mobile Home Park Owner decided to match them and raise them one. Exceeding the greedy Wall Street investors rent increases, when they raise the rent so high we loose equity as our home value plummets. I live in a park where we have decent and fair owners. But we have other problems being the closest Sunnyvale residents to the Levi Stadium where sometimes we have been denied access to our own homes due to traffic control. And being a residential neighborhood surrounded by industrial neighborhood our Park has had several overnight noise issues exceeding the allowable overnight decibels. I am an active Member of the Sunnyvale Mobile Home Park Alliance and have been to numerous City Council Meetings and shared my concerns and issues on my Park and other Parks in Sunnyvale and after leaving I feel as if what I said has fallen upon deaf ears. Josh will be a breath of fresh air for us. Please help him win as we need somebody who represents the people of Sunnyvale not just the corporations. Tim”

Thank you!

Hello everyone,

No doubt, you’ve heard or seen the results of last night’s election.

Last night didn’t turn out as we had hoped it would but nonetheless, I couldn’t be prouder of our team and the many people that supported our struggle to bring good government to Sunnyvale. I want to thank my wife Maichen and our family for their support throughout this long campaign.  I also want you to know that my heart is full of gratitude and love for all your hard work.

I look forward to working with you on issues facing Sunnyvale as we move forward and I’m excited about all I believe we can accomplish together.

Please remember this quote as you look back on this election:

Warm regards,

Josh

Let's make 100

Hello everyone,

One of the key goals I set for the campaign was 100 donations by individuals to the campaign. That might not sound like a lot but for a city council race, it's a big deal.  Please help me get the word out to your friends and neighbors about the campaign so we can meet this goal. We're really close!

Here are some links to my latest videos and a WeChat discussion I did Friday evening that was a big success.

22 Days

Hello all,

I want to thank you all for the generous donations and endorsements. I couldn't be more proud to have your support. As we rush to the final three weeks of the campaign please be sure to do the following:

1) Share the fact that you support the campaign with your Sunnyvale friends and neighbors;

2) Ask them what their voting plan is--how they will get to the polls and what day they will go or send in their vote by mail ballots. Ask them to commit to voting in the election;

3) Consider asking them to go the last debate before the election which is this Wednesday, the 17th at City Hall in the Council Chambers;

4) Consider phone banking, canvassing or donating to the campaign.

Thank you again for your support! Stay tuned for a couple videos I have in production which I think you'll like.

40 Days Out

Hello everyone,

We are 40 days away from the election and we are driving hard to the finish. I have updated many of you already about a slew of important new endorsements. I also just had an Op-ed published that draws attention to a critical issue; here's the link: Op-ed

I've also had 2 candidate forums and we have with 3 left to go. We've placed all our yard signs and we have demand for many more and that's a big part of the reason I'm reaching out.

The bottom line is that I'd rather ask you for money than taking contributions from developers and PACs but that doesn't make it easy. I don't like asking but we can't take big money out of our elections without getting little money in--that means you and me. I'm not taking anything but individual contributions and I've turned down a number of PAC donations already.

If you can help out with another donation it will help fund our yard signs and if we get enough, a second mailer. Even those that don't want to see us win admit that the race is looking pretty close. We've got a good shot at it and I want to maximize our chances.

If you can help out with a donation it will be greatly appreciated. If you can't, that's fine too. Thank you again for all your support thus far.

Best regards,

Josh

We're on the Ballot

Hello all,

I'm excited to report that we're on the ballot! We gathered hundreds of signatures and were able to waive the ballot statement fee as well. Things are really starting to heat up and our momentum continues to grow. If you know other people that want to get involved please forward them this link and we will get them involved. Door knocking, fundraising, phone calls and other tasks are all waiting.

Thank you so much for your support...we're making a big impact in Sunnyvale and even at the county level people are starting to talk about our people-powered push to put Sunnyvale's government back in the hands of average citizens.

"Friendraising"

Hello all,

There are less than three days left before the close of the first financial reporting period for campaigns. So far we've accomplished a lot:

*One Op-ed article published with another in the pipeline

*Two positive quotes and an exclusive in the Mercury News

*Multiple canvassing trips with many more planned

*Many great endorsements

*Volunteer group in excess of 25 people

*Strong showing in contributions

In order to show how much ground we have gained, I want to push hard over the next few days to maximize donations. So here's my ask: please "friendraise" over the next few days.

The more we raise over the next few days the more we will be able to invest in things like mailers, yard signs, and promotional material.  We're on track for a great first part of the campaign and this is the definitely the end of the beginning so let's enroll as many folks as we can.

Always remember: "Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble. " John Lewis

Op-ed

I'm excited this Op-ed was published but I'm a little leery about the inevitable backlash from the  Carlyle Group the massive hedge fund that owns the park I discuss in the article. Please feel free to pass this link on to others you think might want to contribute. Taking on billionaire hedge funds works better with many hands involved. Thank you for your support!

Momentum

Hi Everybody,

Thank you all so much for getting my campaign seeded with donations! I'm really excited and we're making good progress. I've received a number of important endorsements over the last few days here's the link: https://www.josh4council.com/e...   .  I've also just released a campaign video where I talk about my pledge to only take individual donations: https://www.youtube.com/edit?o...   .

If you want to continue to help the best thing you can do is share this link with others you feel would like to support what I'm working on. Thanks again for your support and I'm excited about making Sunnyvale better with your help.
