Our Republican opponent has raised $7,300 from special interests in the past month (see our UPDATE section for more details); Guinn Unger's entirely grassroots campaign, on the other hand, is proud to have taken $0 from special interests in that time.

So as we enter into the homestretch, we're asking our grassroots network to pull together and collectively MATCH what our opponent has received from special interests by October 31.  Please donate generously, and help us place a progressive leader in the Colorado State Senate!

Guinn Unger is a 28-year veteran of the US Army Reserve, running to promote progressive values in Colorado’s state government, and to flip a long-Republican-held state senate seat, and with it, potentially, the Colorado Senate!

Guinn is running on the basic principle that we’re all at our best when we support one another.  His campaign is focused on lowering health care costs, improving education, and protecting the environment, and working to improve the lives of everyone in southwestern Colorado.

Recently, our campaign was proud and honored that Guinn earned the endorsement of the national organization OUR REVOLUTION - one of only three candidates in Colorado to receive that endorsement.  He has also earned the trust and support of a range of other groups, activists, and most importantly committed supporters, donors and volunteers, who share the grassroots, progressive values this campaign embodies.

We have an amazing amount of enthusiasm, a committed group of volunteers, and a tremendous leader as a candidate.  We CAN win this seat, and we WILL win this seat as long as we can keep the pace financially.  Donations from people like YOU - whether you live in the district, the state, or even in another state but want to support like-minded candidates - can make all the difference in this campaign, so please consider making a generous contribution, and thank you!

“I endorse Guinn because he has a varied background, (scientist, oil and gas, small business) that I believe lets him assess the issues from different viewpoints. As a scientist, he studies the facts before jumping forward and is an independent thinker...we can certainly use more of that! I truly believe Guinn cares about the people in his district and will be an accessible Senator.”

Special Interests v. Grassroots - WARNING: the Special Interests are Winning

Some troubling news: our opponent's latest fundraising report shows that fully 90% of Don Coram's donations in the past two weeks have come from PACs or other special interest groups.

A closer look reveals that the majority of those special interest donations come from interest groups promoting insurance companies, and oil and gas interests - exactly the kinds of interests who would want to prop up someone like Don Coram, and stop a grassroots, progressive candidate like Guinn Unger.

I know we keep asking, but please consider donating generously to Guinn's campaign! We need every dollar we can get to win this race!

Colorado for All Bus Tour

This past weekend, Guinn hopped on a bus with a roster of amazing Democratic candidates, including Jared Polis (Governor), Diane Mitsch Bush (CO-3), Phil Weiser (Attorney General), Jena Griswold (Secretary of State).

Guinn was tasked with firing up voters at stops in Montrose, Ridgway and Durango - and you can see in the video below the incredible response he got in Durango!

In between stops, Guinn and the other Dems talked about this election, and the things that we can do, collectively, if all of these fantastic candidates are elected.

We have 7 days left.  Please consider contributing, as every dollar helps!

Grassroots v. Special Interests - let's MATCH the PAC $$$ our GOP opponent has taken

At a debate earlier this week, our Republican opponent, Don Coram, boasted that he hasn't spent much time raising money on this campaign.  Turns out - based on his most recent fundraising reports - that that's because Don is raking in a substantial percentage of his fundraising from special interest groups, PACs and small donor communities ("SDC's") representing special interests.

In fact, in the past month, 56% of the contributions Don accepted - including 63% of donations in the past two weeks - came from special interest PACs or SDCs.

And roughly a quarter of the special interest money Don Coram has accepted comes from corporations that profit heavily from fossil fuels: oil and gas companies, gas-centered utility corporations, etc.

It's no wonder, given these contributions from oil and gas interests, that Don Coram has so much trouble wrapping his head around the basic, settled science of climate change!

By contrast, Guinn Unger's contributions during that time period include zero contributions from special interests and, it goes without saying, $0 from oil and gas.  We are an entirely grassroots campaign, and we like it that way.

That said, thanks entirely to those special interest donations, Don does have a financial edge with three weeks left until election day.

So we've changed our fundraising goal on Crowdpac to equal the total Don Coram has raised from special interests in the past month: $7,300.  No doubt he'll raise much more from PACs in the coming weeks, but if our grassroots network can MATCH that total, we can, and will, win this race!

Please donate generously, and as always, thank you for your passion and support!

New campaign slogan???

The campaign was out at Fort Lewis College today, and we asked the students to help us come up with a campaign slogan.

The two strongest contenders turned out to be:

"Guinn for the Win!"

v.

"Hunger for Unger!"

In the end, "Guinn for the Win" eked out a two vote victory: the students got a kick out of "Hunger for Unger," but felt the simplicity and positive vibes of "Guinn for the Win" made for a better slogan!

We are the definition of a grassroots campaign - heck, we're even crowd-sourcing our campaign slogan!  We've got a a growing number of college kids ready to get the vote out, and spread the word on "Guinn for the Win", but we need all the help we can get to amplify their message, so please consider a donation!

The definition of grassroots...

Last week, thanks to incredibly hard work of dedicated volunteers, the Unger campaign knocked more than 1000 doors in 8 different communities, and 4 different counties.  This week, we've added another county - San Juan - to that list, and have knocked another 400+ doors!

This is how these campaigns are won - door by door, voter by voter - and we are planning on visiting every county in this massive district, and dozens of communities, over the next 40 days!

Endorsement from the national chapter of OUR REVOLUTION

We just heard last week that Guinn has received the endorsement of the national chapter of OUR REVOLUTION!  Guinn is just the third candidate from Colorado to receive an endorsement from OUR REVOLUTION, a group that is committed to addressing issues like income inequality, climate change, racial justice and other forms of discrimination, and a range of other progressive issues.  Guinn shares those values, and is ready to fight for them in the Colorado Senate! Check out the Our Revolution endorsement here: https://ourrevolution.com/cand...

The Great Debate (from Guinn's perspective...)

Last week, Guinn had the chance to take the stage and debate his Republican opponent.  The distinction between the two could not have been more clear. Our opponent tap-danced around the reality of climate change, and struggled to articulate real solutions to the big problems Senate District 6 faces. Guinn, on the other hand, stood up (amidst a largely conservative audience) and made a case that we badly need bold, progressive, forward-thinking leadership.  You can check out the whole debate here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3P4Bv...
